I have ally auto now and i personally don't like it. If you one of those people who want to pay off your vehicle faster. This is not the bank you want to go to. What i have been noticing with my auto payments is that they are trying to get their money before your vehicle is paid off. I had one lady who spoke very little english telling me that the lower my unpaid balance will pay off my vehicle much faster which means my finance (tax) will increase.
I did not like that lady at all. I prefer to have someone speaking complete english without having such an odd accent. I'm very used to the britain accent and texan accent so any other than those, i highly dislike. I spoke with another lady before about putting extra money onto the principle and told me i could but this weird accent lady who spoke very little english said i couldn't. This is perfect for people who can't pay extra but not for ones who do want to pay extra. I wouldn't get this bank ever again.
We bought a new $40000 car and the dealer had the car financed through ally. Five months later a drunk hit our car and totaled it. The drunks insurance paid for most of the amount owing against the car. My gap insurance paid the rest. Ally was notified and knew they would be paid. The entire amount for the car was paid but it took three months for the insurance companies to work it out. Ally was paid in full. When i went to buy a home i found ally had reported to the credit bureaus we were 90 days late. I have disputed and ally continues to lie. We are seeing ally for damages. Stay away from Ally.
I love Ally, mostly for it's interest rates and lack of any atm fees anywhere. My only smallish gripe is that to change my wife's name on the account or add someone to a joint account, ally still requires faxing or mailing in a bunch of documents. Who has a fax anymore?
