On 11/13/2012 i made a $5500 deposit to my account from another local bank of to cover a down payment for a new car. I waited 4 business days to be sure the funds would be posted, then wrote a check to buy the car on 11/17. Today (monday, 11/19) i received a letter from ally that the check was being held an additional 7 business days for no legitimate reason but "because the check was a large amount of money. "
now, i've been on hold with various ally customer service reps for nearly 45 minutes. No one can seem to give me a straight answer as to why they are holding my money or whether they'll release the funds before the check i wrote to the dealership is presented for payment. This is the worst experience i've ever had with a bank. I feel like i've been raped by pirates!
I tried opening a new account with Ally Bank and they refused to open the account because my wife of 46 years has no credit in her own name. This is the first and only bank in our 46 years of marriage that refused us.
I would not try to get an account with Ally.
Customer service is rude does not comprehend English and they do not understand how to do their jobs. They call 10 times a day even after you talk to them 3 times a day. If you decide to buy a car don't use Ally.
