BBVA compass closed my account after twenty years without me able to talk to escalate it to the corperate level just because I requested several times the branch manager to stop talking to me because I did not feel very confortable with her. I know I am a colored man but I made a complaint because all I did ask the tellers to ask the branch manager stop talking to me or stop intervening but instead my account was closed. I believe there are still good white people in America that are not racist but just because I am a colored person and a minority I would had thought they would listen to me instead when I made a compliant I got an email from her manager that all communications would cease. I had informed that in matters of days they could not had closed my bank account however I had told them I have outstanding checks and I had a mortgage with them but they refused to give me even the pay off amount but in matters of days they closed my account. I need advice from the community my email is email@example.com. I promise I did not create anything commotion but requested not her to interfear with my banking activities but she never respected my request. I know i am a colored man and trying to complaint against a non colored person but I never thought they would just close my account without hearing me out. I tried to tell them I would not talk from hear on but they never heard and I also informed them I have a business with checks outstanding to several people including the IRS and and to give me a pay off to my mortgage but they never gave me anything but an email that all communications were to cease. I also requested video cameras of my activity but they never responded to any of my concerns or requests. I would greatly appreciate from the community what to do specially I have outstanding checks and mortgage due with BBVA compass not to mention I have been a client with BBVA over 20 years.
I banked with BBVA Compass back in 2012 for less than a year. My experience with them in just a few months was AWFUL! From miscellaneous charges here & there to unprofessional service (or lack thereof) to random holds on payroll and direct deposit items. They reduce your balance when you pay a bill, then it disappears for days, then reappears when it's convenient to charge you for an NSF fee. I had also been scammed by an internet company and despite my proof that the charges were not mine. They did not refund me the scammed amount nor the NSF fees that I incurred because of it. I'd had enough. So, in Feb 2013, I marched into the branch and asked to close my account. That process took damn near an hour, but they handed me the remaining balance of my checking account and I was on my merry way. Problem solved? WRONG!
Fast forward to today (8/2014) I get a phone call from a random guy in NY named Steve Gavin who did not identify his company. He stated that he has paperwork filed in my county in TX for fraud charges against me regarding that Compass Bank account. He gave me a docket number, claims I owe over $1500 and if I do not respond back to him immediately, I will lose my right to represent myself at a hearing which, by the way, is in three business days. WHAT?! I've never been served any court summons? I immediately called my county courthouse and gave them this "docket" number which turns out wasn't a valid docket number at all. How could I owe $1500 on a closed account from a year and a half ago? I don't write checks and there was no outstanding bill pay or ach items. I'm infuriated, so you better believe I'm contacting my attorney and getting to the bottom of this.
Service was always terrible, people not nice in person or on the phone, long hold when calling, horrible service giving me the run-around when a problem emerged, then all the fees came rolling in. It has been 4 months since I closed my account and I'm still getting bills of random fees $25 here $39 there and they still tell me that even aftet closing my account their bank will continue trying to charge every month and they can't do anything. Are you kidding me?!
The guy wouldn't let me talk to a supervisor, for some reason, but finally I talked to a superior aftet being on hold for a very long time and they had me fax bunch of letters, statements, and info to get Compass Bank to stop charging my closed Compass Account. I just want to be done with this horrible bank!
