I have finally closed my last account associated with bank of america. I banked with boa for about seven years and had several different accounts with them. While i found that at many different branches the folks who worked there usually had decent attitudes, the overall company attitude of boa has always been one long and tireless fight to ream every bit of money out of you they can. The final straw for me, and by no means the only time, was that my boa cc ended up with an outstanding balance because of a charge that didn't quite make it onto the monthly bill.
My account the ended up delinquent for just over 30 days, over $5 dollars, by the time i had reviewed my account statement it was already late. So because i, a seven year customer who had always kept my accounts up and paid all my bills, had $5 more than 30 days overdue they actually reported to a credit agency! For the next seven years i now have a black mark on my credit score! Seriously boa? I could understand it if i was behind every month, or even if it was a major payment, but over $5 dollars that i paid straight after finding out? All my boa accounts are now closed and i will no longer deal with them. I would feel more comfortable with my money stuffed in a pillowcase.
Went in to the Thrashers Corner branch in Bothell and spoke with Jonathon. Was not happy about his attitude and follow through. He was to take care of canceling an account and then contacting me before the end of the business day. I waited no call so I assumed he would call me the following morning to confirm that he made the call to a department within the bank. Once again no call so I called him after 12:00pm and he had attitude with me, told me he has difficulty handling all the customers and that come into the banking center. (I guess this is why I didn't get a call from him). He did say he had made the cancellation call but didn't have a name of who he spoke with, no confirmation number and didn't request any documentation sent confirming our request. He said there was "probably" notes on the accounts. He dropped the ball.
I had an account for a couple years now and I just decided to close my account. They told me that I could no longer have my online banking account because it was not offered also they told me that because I was 23 I did not qualify for student discount even though I guess people only go to college until the 23. What really made me want to close it was the ridiculous overdraft charges. A whole $100 in overdraft charges for a $27 transaction talk about ridiculous. Then when I called to speak to them about it the lady I spoke to was very rude and supervise it was also not helpful at all he just kept repeating the same thing saying that when you overdraft charge they charge you a fee like I know that! I'm not an idiot.
