This is definitely one of the worst banks I have ever used when it comes to loans and customer service on home mortgages. BB&T is the only bank that is worse than Bank of America. The customer service of Bank of America is terrible. They continue to run you around in circles and never actually resolve any problem. I have given up on trying!!! On the only positive note, you do get some customer service folks that are nice and trying to help -- the only problem is they do not seem knowledgeable or equipped enough to provide that help. You are much better off not calling Bank of America but going into a branch office to get any help.
I wanted to set up a Payable on Death (POD) beneficiary for my checking and savings accounts. The employee helping me didn't know how to set this up, so she called her manager over to help. I filled out the forms, got their OK that it was set up correctly, and left.
One week later, I'm out of state with my family when I get a call from the bank: "Guess what, we screwed up your paperwork. You remember this section that we told you to leave blank? You should have filled that out." Ok, I say, I'll come in next weekend to fix it. I'm told, "If you don't fix it immediately with us over the phone, the BoA can run an audit and lock you out of your accounts." So now I'm relaying social security numbers to the bank manager over an unsecure phone line while pulled over at the side of a highway.
"Ok," he tells me, "It's all set."
Yeah, right. I'm taking my business elsewhere.
Received a statement February, 2014. Called, canceled credit card. More statements, same annual fee, but now with interest charges. Contacted customer service at phone number on statement-on hold 75 minutes, gave up. Chatted on line with Peter. He was unable to help. His supervisor- unable to help. Called again, talked to Ray. He was rude and condescending. He informed me that had I canceled the card on 2/6 instead of 2/16 I would not have been charged. It didn't matter that I closed the account, I still had to pay the fee, and the account is now "past due". He said that I was wrong to think that I could just contact customer service and they would resolve my problem. He also said that it didn't matter who I spoke to within the entire Bank of America Corporation, no one would help me out. This is exactly what transpired, all of it is true and per my experience I would have no further dealings with them in the future and plan to dispute these charges.
