In the years that i have had bank of america not once have they ever helped me through any situation. I am an active duty military soldier who has served this nation for six years. Due to my job i have been stationed in italy, louisiana, and hawaii. Not any of these places had a bank of america except one in italy, but other banks have atms on military installations. I have had to pay the atm fee and a separate charge for not using a bank of america atm.
Even though i am serving this nation and do not choose to live at these places, bank of america would never waive my fee. When i was deployed and couldn't be around a phone or internet, my checking would often get overdrawn, but they wouldn't auto switch the money from my savings. When i would call i often felt like they would just hang up to avoid having to deal with me. It was one of the most stressful things to have to deal with. I know none of my friends that have this bank any longer the ones like me that made the mistake and opened an account with them, hate this whole corporation.
They steal money, have no sense of compassion. They don't have anything to offer a military soldier in a time of need and they will forever be a prime example of a corperation that thinks they deserve something more and don't have to abide by simple principles of good character because they put the name of our country in their name. If you are reading this please... Please don't get this bank behind you.
I just closed 3 accounts w/ BOA- I was charged $140 in overdraft fees even though my bank statement did not show a negative balance. I had 4 charges on my account that were pending, an automatic deposit was made and cleared 1 or 2 days before the 4 charges cleared. I called customer service- on hold for a long time then they were rude and no help, went to a branch and talked to the vice- president. He tried to tell me that when I made a charge on my account the money is taken out that second and put into a BOA holding account to wait for the merchant to request it, even if that takes 3 or 4 days. I was also told that the bank itself can see transactions on their computer that customers can't see on their personal computers. So your online banking and your bank statement are not the true records of your transactions. I asked the vice-president of the branch to please fix the problem, he flatly refused and offered no help. I told him that I would be closing my 3 accounts and spreading the word not to use his bank and why. He told me "go ahead and do whatever I needed to" he didn't care in the least. So I have lost $140 because of $124 of purchases that didn't clear until days after a $1000 paycheck cleared. Wish I could give them a lower rating but the system wouldn't let me go any lower.
