Most recent: i just discovered that when they send payments from my personal account, they print a check showing my business name, with old closed p. O. Box as address and wrong zip code, even though both my personal and business accounts (and all recent statements) from them clearly show (properly) my name, house address and correct zip code. Before that, i took their advice to refinance my house at fixed rate (previously variable) - which has turned out to be a few points higher than the variable rate would have been over past few years - so, they cost me money, and gave bad advice.
I am also angry that they took so many years improve their online banking system so that it shows pending transactions. Unfortunately, it still does not show up as 'pending' in the 'balance' column (as it would in your own checkbook, and is normally done in bookkeeping as a check it written). I previously had excellent service from 4 different credit unions over past 30 years. I am to the point of telling every one i meet just how much i can't stand this bank. Unfortunately, i have my mortgage with them, and my financial situation does not allow me to get a new mortgage and change banks at the moment. As soon as i sell my house, i will. The only reason i rate them higher than zero is the tellers are always polite, and seem proficient.
I have been a customer of this Exeter NH branch for 30+ years and, until this week, have had a positive experience with all employees. If problems did arise, representatives of this bank had worked toward a fair resolution in a respectful manner. This week however, I did not have the same positive experience with the current manager of this branch, Ian. I was charged excessive and unfair overdraft charges that I believed would be corrected as soon as a "live" representative was made aware and could review the facts as documented in their system.
Not only did Citizens representatives refuse to correct the excessive and manipulated charges but Ian went on to make arrogant and personally insulting statements about my credit history? The personal remarks were not only unsubstantiated but unprofessional and in 30 years, I've never been treated with such disrespect and ignorance. I have been researching to find that there are many consumer complaints regarding excessive fees that Citizens Bank is now being accused of collecting.
This particular branch manager will most likely not last in this position as he has demonstrated he lacks the skills and that problem will take care of itself but to initiate consumer protection, all victims of unwarranted excessive fees need to continue to file formal complaints.
I have several accounts with different banks and citizens is definitely the worst i have ever dealt with.. They offered free checking when i opened an account. 6 months later they told me i had to keep a minimum balance or i would be charged a monthly fee.. They gave me a credit card with a 3000 limit which i paid every month on time, payments averaging 4-5 times the minimum payment.. I was never late with a payment.
After a couple of months they reduced my credit limit to 1/2 and had the nerve to call me and tell me i was over my credit limit and demanded i pay them 700 to bring my balance down to my limit! Just this eve i went to make an online payment because today is the due date.. However, since it is 8:01 pm, they wont allow me to make a payment with todays date even though it is still today until 11:59.. So now i have to pay a $25 late fee.. I called them to get assistance and they told me too bad... What a bunch of evil scum
