I moved to a state where Commerce Bank doesn't exist and was forced to close my account. After 6 months my account is still open and I have been sent to collections and my credit score compromised over a $35 mistake that was theirs to begin with!
Because of poor communication and lack of followthrough on the part of both their customer service and collections department, I still have no resolution! Allison, the last rep I spoke with from collections told me she would call back with a resolution and never did! This will effect me for years to come and I am so frustrated because I don't know what else to do! What a nightmare!
I was a checking account customer for 9 years and they decided to change the account type in October to a fee based one and put it at the bottom of the monthly statement in the fine print and I do not even receive paper bills. When I finally noticed the fees in April they refunded one and told me the others were not refundable and I should have "caught" it. I closed the account. They still will not repay the money they took out of my account.
Although Commerce Bank was successfully sued for inappropriate determination of overdrafts, it seems to be part of their culture to seek out overdrafts and assess OD fees as soon as possible. Good luck trying to get someone on the phone to discuss process and issues. Customer service remains a thing of the past and Commerce is leading the way in making Banking a faceless industry. I have had ten different Private Bankers in less than 10 years and it has become obvious turnover and re-assignment within Commerce are an on going issue.
