This was the email I sent them which explains most all.
On November 26 I received a call from someone claiming to be from "ING Banking" He stated he needed to verify my info since I opened a new account. (I never got anyone calling me from any other bank to verify info.) He started asking me very personal information such as my date of birth, full address I wanted to only give partial info but he told me to call back when I was able to give out the full info.
I went online and checked my account, there was a notice requesting me to call. I spoke to "Tracy" she confirmed that they needed to verify that I was the person who opened the account? Well I entered my password via Phone pad. She was asking me questions to verify my address and previous address, which I did. Then, the questions became "Whats the nearest cross street of your previous address" what's you relatives maiden or middle names and so on. I stopped it here. Enough was enough! I did not want to answer anymore personal questions over the phone as I felt I answered enough. But then I was told I could not have an account unless I answer the questions? How cold! I asked to speak to a supervisor or someone with a higher rank but I could not be placed on hold (3 minutes too long to wait), so I hung up. For one thing, I was upset that I received a phone call without any type of warning, via text or email that someone from ING would be calling. I was NOT happy that so much info was being given! You guys invited me VIA spam mail, I didn't sign up willingly.
I have 4 accounts with Capitol One Bank and I'm surprised that I was not asked about that, considering that ING is an affiliate or co-partner?
I just got done telling many friends and family to sign up as well. Now I have to tell them to cancel or disregard. I certainly would not want them to go through this.
I have NEVER had this type of questioning and feel violated in some way. Now that I had to close my account as fast as I opened it.
Went down to my local Aldi store for some midweek shopping. Horrified when the card was declined at the checkout. Really embarrassed i step outside to check the balance on my phone; plenty of money. So i called the number on my card. We are really sorry but there have been a few issues today. You don't say. I can't help you because i can't bring up your transaction history. Does that mean she couldn't access me account?
The voice on the phone said go to Atm and you should be fine. Clearly she had no idea what the problem was. Went to the first Atm said card was expired! Really? I've only had this card for a month. The 2nd Atm went and swallowed my card! Ing direct fail!
I opened a non-taxable savings account - telling ING the money was taxed in France and I wanted to know the best account. ING said the tax free account in Canada. When I went down to pay the cheque, I ensured ING knew the money was from France and I was not a resident. Now the Canadian government is charging me 12 percent interest per year on the money meaning all the money earned in the "tax free" account is gone as well as my principle. ING knew I did not work in Canada. They set me up to bankrupt me. Then when I call to tell them they tell me it is my fault - their people did not do their job and it is my fault. I no longer have any savings and ING is the reason. ING does not admit to mistakes and ING refuses to correct its errors. Never bank with ING.
