I was just recently charged $148.00 in NSF fees ($38.00 each) when my account was not overdrawn. I called the 800 number and the lady was less than helpful. She offered me a refund of one of the $38.00 fees as a "courtesy." I went to a branch near work to talk to someone and the person at the branch was even worse. I've filed a BBB complaint and if necessary I will file an OCC.gov complaint. This bank is terrible. I can't wait to find another bank to do business with. It's funny that they offer $25.00 for referring a friend. Why not spend some time just keeping your customers instead of driving them off. I wouldn't refer someone I didn't like to the bank let alone a friend or family member.
I was given a $50 gift card and when I decided to use it a while later, the balance was zero. I called TCF and was told that fees were taken out each month, which took the $50. I never used or activated the card. TCF said there is nothing they can do. I am so disappointed. I guess $50 is worth losing customers, I'm closing my TCF account.
