I've been with webster bank since for probably 18 years(about the time they took over derby savings bank). They started out as a very consumer focused bank looking to provide the best service and reaching out to the needs of their customers. Over the years it has become nothing but a money hungry corporate machine. The tellers in their branches are friendly(for the most part), but it is the overall institution that has become disconnected with their clientele. They are not flexible, they do not care about your needs, they will not go above and beyond for you in any situation.
It is all about them and their bottom line. They can care less about you and your money. Believe me. If you open an account here, you'll be sorry you ever did. I've deposited millions of dollars in the past few years and they could care less. They treat me like bum on the street. No exaggeration. I will be moving all my funds to another bank and closing all accounts.

After receiving a "pre-approved" personal loan offer in the mail I reached out to Webster and submitted an application due to their "fast" approval process. I read many negative reviews of Webster online but I wanted to give them a chance especially since I was shopping for a personal loan through a smaller institution. First of all I was told I wasn't actually pre-approved, i just fell into a category that MAY be approved. Fine. Probably a day or so later my Loan Officer Sally called me with follow up questions. She assured me I had a good credit score, good income, and the approval would come quickly - "if you don't hear from me or your local Rye (NY) Branch within 48 hours call me, but you will". two days later I still hadn't heard. Keep in mind I was very clear in my application and with Sally that I was in a bind and receiving my funds quickly was extremely necessary. I finally called Sally who was only able to tell me "weird, the underwriter hasn't responded. I guess try me tomorrow" You guess? It has been 10 DAYS and i have not been reached out to ONE TIME by either Sally or the Rye Branch. What a joke. I have good credit and no other loans in my name. Sally also had no problem keeping me on the phone for an additional 15 minutes to try and sell me on a mortgage through Webster. I've since received and utilized my funds through another lender almost 5 days ago. Don't waste your time and certainly don't waste a hard credit inquiry with these people. I thought a smaller local bank would be more more apt to give me personal attention. Wrong. I'll be telling everyone to avoid Webster Bank
And it continues with Webster bank, continue to be the worst bank; continue to add on fees. i have been to the bank four or five times to transfer funds so I will not go into overdraft, as I go on what hey tell me the amount I am over, and each day i am charged for overdrafts. Now I have no money. They will not refund anything, because you ate only "allowed" one credit per year. That should tell you about how much greed this bank has. I don't want to be a type W personality. I want to be gone.
