Top CD Rates For The Week Starting August 10, 2009
CD rates in general, may be at their lowest levels right now but if you make the effort, you can always find some pretty decent rates that are way above the national average and better than what your bank is currently offering.
Here at My Bank Tracker, we try to keep you updated with the best CD rates currently offered in the market. For this week, there are few changes seen in our top CD rates list, both in the rates offered and in the banks offering them:
Ascencia Bank
Asencia Bank retains its top spot for the 6-month CD and 36-month CD, offering 1.76% and 3.00% APY respectively.
E-Loan
E-Loan’s interest rates for its 24-month CD and 60-month CD at 2.47% and 3.50% APY respectively are also still the top yields in both categories.
Some New Banks on the List
While newdominionDIRECT still offers the best CD rate for the 12-month term, it is now joined by Onewest Bank, with both banks giving 2.05% APY.
Discover Bank enters this week’s top CD rates list for its 48-month CD which currently yields 3.25% APY. Intervest National Bank held this spot last week with a 3.20% rate.
Great 17-month CD from Security Savings Bank
Here’s an odd-term CD that’s recently caught our attention. A 17-month Certificate of Deposit currently being offered by Security Savings Bank has a rate that’s higher than most 2-year CDs at 2.47% APY. In fact, this rate equals that of E-Loan’s 24-month CD which is our best rate for this term. It’s also notches higher than the national average rate of 24-month CDs which is now at 1.77% APY. You can avail of this CD with a minimum deposit of $500.
