Anyone else having difficulty getting this deal? I had closed a checking account from WaMu/Chase earlier in the month since I no longer wished to maintain a minimum balance of $1500 on an account that earned no interest. I went down to the branch to close it and verified that it was closed online. I then received this offer and since I was no longer an existing checking account owner, I was eligible for the offer and opened a Chase Checking account online. After I entered in all the info plus funded the account, only then did Chase's website inform me that the coupon code was denied because I “have exceeded the maximum in dollars that any one customer may redeem through our coupon redemption program.” I have never used a coupon with Chase, or WaMu before that. I called Chase and they said their records show that I have redeemed a coupon before but they could not tell me when. I have never used a coupon at any bank ever. They told me to go to a branch and that things would get straightened out there. I went to my local branch and they saw a different error message. The person I spoke to said he would try the coupon again later in the week. Got a call from him the other day saying that the code was still rejected. No one seems to know how to straighten things out. So now I have to close this new account and start all over again??? That seems crazy to me. Why does Chase offer these incentives if they won't make good on it?

Yeap, sometimes u have to choose what battleS u want to fight. If its worth the hassle go for it but if its not just eleviate it from your life. It remains to be seen when and if I have the incentive. I made a minimum deposit since I received the coupon in my mail. I have my own financial institution that Im going to stay with it. I did it electronically however Im not having my check deposited at Chase. I didnt recall having to make 5 debit purchases, be it as it may I did purchase a concert ticket today so that does qualify for a purchase. The $100It is supposed to be deposited within 10 days if I recollect correctly and I opened it on the 7th so Ill be looking out for it. I could make 4 small debit purchases if I have to since Ive made one but dont recall that being a stipulation. Though Ive never had any affiliation with Chase whatsoever until I received that offer in mail I look foward to seeing the results approx around the 17 April.

Well I just want to let you both know that I opened an account with chase about 3 months ago & did receive the $100. They did tell me that I would have to make 5 debit purchases or have direct deposit in order to not have any monthly fees. So far… so good!

  • Keron

Of course, the monthly fee is only $6! You could just let the account take the hits for the 6 months that it must be open and simply not touch the checking for that entire time, and then walk away with $70 or so.

  • Keron

Wow, sorry to read that! It smells like a case of identity theft, possibly… or a code mix-up. I'm actually currently doing two codes (one from this year and one from the last), and I received the bonuses (and went off of them) within two weeks of the initial deposit of $100, which I then immediately pulled back out.

It's very poor of Chase that whoever you spoke to was unable to tell you when that past coupon was supposedly redeemed; perhaps more pestering is necessary… or crossing your fingers for a more competent representative!!

Anyway, I've always known it to work.

Can I make a purchase as low as $0.01 anywhere?

  • duagh

it doesn”t say how small the purchases have to be, but what the heck are you going to buy for $.o1?????
