Continental Airlines OnePass Plus Card Review

By Simon Zhen  Tue Apr 26, 2011

The Continental Airlines OnePass Plus Card offers generous travel rewards that are ideal for the frequent Continental flyer.

At first glance, the Continental Airlines OnePass Plus Card has few differences from other airline rewards credit cards. However, the introductory offers and anniversary gifts make for attractive perks not found with other cards.

Continental Airlines OnePass Plus Card Details

Card Analysis

The Continental Airlines OnePass Plus Card is a run-of-the-mill airlines credit card sporting a mid-range 14.24% APR and an $85 annual fee. As with all credit cards, consumers should not consider applying they have trouble paying off their balances.

The purchase rewards structure on the OnePass Plus Card is relatively unspectacular but the anniversary travel rewards themselves are enough to compensate for the annual fee.

A round trip ticket from the New York, U.S. to London, England costs $1001 and the rewards travel equivalent costs 100,000 miles for an EasyPass rewards ticket. That comes out to 100 miles per $1. By those metrics, the 25,000 bonus miles after the first purchase equates to $250 towards a Continental flight.

The OnePass Plus Card charges a 3% foreign transaction fee that makes it a costly credit card to use when visiting foreign countries.

The Continental Airlines OnePass Plus Card is most appropriate for the responsible credit card user and frequent Continental flyer who travels domestically. If you’d like to sign up for this card, apply here.

Chase no longer charges foreign transaction fees. I have a CO Presidential Plus card, which gives me access to StarAlliance lounges when I travel. A fab benefit!

This is incorrect. Chase does charge foreign transaction fees on many of their credit cards (for example: Chase Freedom).

The Continental Airlines Presidential Plus card is one of the Chase cards that do not charge foreign transaction fees.

The only card issuer that doesn’t charge foreign transaction fees on any of their cards is Capital One.
