According to the February 2010 Mortgage Monitor report from Lender Processing Services, Inc. (LPS), a provider of mortgage performance data and analytics, the delinquency rates in the U.S. have reached all-time highs.

Mortgage delinquency rates and foreclosures have been on the rise, and with unemployment hovering around 10%, many more people may have trouble paying their monthly mortgage bills. TD Bank wants to help one of its customers achieve the dream of homeownership by giving them $250,000 towards their mortgage.

The FDIC has released their 2009 fourth quarter report, showing a huge decrease in mortgage and other loans. FDIC Chairman Sheila Bair encouraged banks to lend responsibly, but to not deny credit to sound borrowers simply on the basis of industry or geographic location.

Securing applications are one thing, but Bank of America has actually succeeded in the permanent modification of 12,700 loans for its customers.

Latest figures released by the Mortgage Bankers Association show that mortgage applications, which includes new and refinance mortgage applications posted its highest numbers since May of this year.
