“Very poor”
Chase allowed 5 different checks of almost $2000.00 to be deposited or cashed against my account without proper verification. All they did was verify that this person had my driver's license and a credit cards-- which were invalid. So, all you do is have your wallet robbed with those two items and crooks can cash stolen checks against your account. Chase does not have a password protection for live transactions, they do not have technology to scan checks to see if they are good and have funds and they do not verify your signature. This happened in 5 different branches in the boonies in FL. If this was TD bank, they would have been caught. If this was bank of america or BBT then they would've run away with the money as well. Security is a big thing nowadays and should way heavily on your choice of banks. It's going to get worse. The police do not really care for those cases. If you lose your wallet and you have Chase, BBT or Bank of America, do your yourself a favor and change to different bank--a new account is not going to help you. Also, customer service at Chase is the worst by phone. I made the bank representative at the bank call himself and he had to hang up as he himself was not able to get help. Hope it helps someone.

“Tempted by the Chase Devil who laughed as they put you through Hell!”
Ran into a real financial crunch back in 2008. Having approximately 100K in credit card debt (medical, taxes etc)we decided to go with the consumer counseling and eliminate debt in every way possible. Chase held about 40K of this debt. We sold assets and used 401 K money to eliminate all but 15K to Chase.and 5K to Citi. Chase was determined to get their money back one hundred percent plus interest(which is why we left this much on the table with them) and unlike many other banks refused to deal in any way accept a pay off plan. We had of course sold most all disposable assets and were determined to stay in our home. One month after paying on the plan for over two years we were late with a payment and Chase immediately took the drastic action of reclaiming all the interest not paid at a rate of 29.9% meaning that we now owed more than when starting the plan two years prior. This of course meant we really had to just stop paying them at all...which sent the debt to collections where we now receive on average five calls a day for the past five years. Personally I'm somewhat convinced Chase is more of a Bully than a Bank and went to unmentionable extremes to make sure they were getting everything to the last dime. Life can be hard and Chase loves the challenge of making it harder.

“Know up front where you stand and what is/is not acceptable to Chase: Adding new Bill Payee lag times”
Note: Business Banking Account
Just add this to your know up front what's what bucket of tricks and big bank issues. Just got off the phone with on-line customer service, it is acceptable to Chase Bank to allow UP TO 48 HRS for a new payee to be added to bill pay....
Chase: "well you know we sometimes have to do background research to ensure there is no fraud going on..."
Me: "...fraud, Waste Industries, the garbage company, and why would you be doing fraud research on Waste Industries?"
Chase: "...well just so you know it can take up to 48 Hrs to add a payee, have I answered your question?"
Me: "ahhh you've told me way too much!"
So what really transpired here???? And trust me this didn't come from the on-line customer service guys and gals, just me on a hunch.
- The bill shows, and I tried to add a new payee as follows: 009 Waste Industries
OMG that 009 just blew the bill pay program's mind!
- Just 'cuz I have other things to do today, and wanted to move on from paying bills, I added a new payee as follows: Waste Industries
This new payee was immediately added, well ok not immediate, it took like 15 seconds.
Lessons learned?
A: The Chase Bill Pay system does not know what to do with leading numeric characters.
B: It is entirely acceptable to Chase (not to you of course) to take upto 48 hours to add a payee to bill pay.
C: During that 48 hour period it is up to YOU to figure out why bill pay has not or rather will not add the payee.
Just know up front, and maybe consider another service provider.

“Unbelievable Ineptitude”
I initiated a wire transfer on Friday the 19th online, it apparently went through - and needed to that Friday. I find out Monday the 22nd that no only did it not go through, but that my online account was frozen. I called and found that the transfer did not go through despite the fact that it was funded, and no one could tell me why - they told me that I had to go to a branch with 2 kinds of ID. Upon supplying this and asking why, the branch manger was unable to tell me. Furthermore, they told me that according to notes on the account someone said they called and left me a VM, which absolutely DID NOT happen, at either of my numbers.
To say I'm irate is an understatement. To compound things, they will not connect me to who lied and said they called. A woman online said I had to re-initiate the transfer online, and that it would absolutely go through today. Lie #2 - I tried online and it said it will not go through until tomorrow. "Frustration" doesn't begin to explain how I feel about this process. If you care at all about customer service, AVOID THIS BANK LIKE THE PLAGUE!

“horrible”
I had my mortgage with Chase since 2008 and in 2009 i decide to refinance with them, after submitting my application i was asked to pay 400$ for appraisal which i did, Chase didnt follow up for weeks after that. In the meanwhile i checked with other lenders and found significant rate difference. I asked Chase to check why there's such a huge difference, which Chase declined to consider and ended up keeping my 400$, even though my house was never appraised.

“Not a fan of Chase Checking”
I have a few Chase credit cards and HAD a Chase checking account. I dropped the Chase account and signed up for ING and have never been happier even with the cap one buyout. They have great bonuses!

Anyways, back to my Chase review. Chase started out fine but I noticed they started holding transfers longer and longer. I don't know why but I had some transfers that they held for as long as 5 days before they released the funds to be used.
Their customer service was always hard to reach! and not very friendly!
On the positive side, Chase did have a great bonus! Much better than Cap 1 (Or ING) and the best I have seen between the big banks!
Their online application process was also very very secure!
I guess overall, they just werent my type of bank.

“Wouldn't cash my check!”
I won a Pathfinder giveaway from Nissan. The prize was a Pathfinder car and a check for taxes, title & insurance. I took the check to Chase Bank to deposit. The branch manager looked at the check and cried FRAUD. He did no research. Nothing. I win sweepstakes all of the time. I know a legitimate sweepstakes. I demanded that the check be deposited so they deposited it and called me two hours later telling me that ALL FUNDS in my account would be frozen for 10 days! A few days later, they told me my account will be closed. Thanks Chase. Two days later, I picked up my 2013 Nissan Pathfinder from the dealership. I had to front the money for the sales tax & fees, but I got the car.

“Satisfactory”
My experience with Chase banking has been pretty run of the mill. I like that there are so many ATMs available for Chase (all around the city but also in Duane Reades). And I have always thought Chase was the "classiest" bank if you will. However, there have been a few moments of confusion with their practices. My boyfriend for example told me he used to be charged for getting a paycheck from his company and depositing it through an ATM because they wanted him to have his check sent directly to his account. Now personally, I don't understand how that can be possible, but if he said it happened I'm assuming it did happen. He resolved this issue by simply having his checks be wired in directly now. I admit that my sister and myself on occasion have found ourselves charged overdraft fees and will be confused as to why. I will also admit however, that I am not the savviest of bank-users and overdraft fees in general confuse me. I could do with a bit more educating so that I know what circumstances provoke what fees. However I do feel like there are a surprising amount of fees. I was charged money for example, because my savings account was empty! The customer service representative explained to me that this was because Chase requires for there to be at least $25 in your savings account at all times, or something to that effect. So she set it up for me so that $25 would be wired into my savings account every month. I generally appreciate their Freedom Credit Card, which I use often, and the rewards I have accumulated from it have bailed me out of a bad situation at one point. So all in all, I'm generally satisfied with Chase. Generally.
