if you open an account with chase it will be a terrible mistake

so good I didnt join chase bank....my mom has her account with them and is a headache all the time..the last thing that disappointment was this bank dont give checks, only temp checks and when my mom got overdraft she went to get an advance payday loan to pay this overdraft the bank refused to give her a temp check because her account was overdraft. this is stupid....people dont make business with chase back...IT WILL BE A BIG MISTAKE!!!!

best customer service!

Just got off the phone with customer service to get my name changed on my card and have a new card emailed to me... customer service representatives were WONDERFUL as usual! I have had some hiccups in the past (self induced) and each time I've called Chase they have been so kind, helpful, and sounded like they were willing to go above and beyond. It's comforting to know that if I ever have a problem - their staff would help me through whatever I need.. and do it with excellent service!

One headache after another with Chase...from refinancing issues to everyday banking issues!!!

My most recent experience involved our mortgage payment. I had recently set up automatic payments because Chase won't allow me to go in ahead of time to pay it on the 15th if the money isn't in there at that exact moment! So, I called on Friday to make sure that the first payment was going to go thru on a Saturday since I didn't see it on there yet and we were going out of town for the weekend and didn't want the payment to be late. The customer rep told me that there was no pending payment and after asking her several times she insisted I must not have set it up correctly so I paid it over the phone that day to ensure it was paid. Well, on Saturday I have texts telling me my account is WAY overdrawn because TWO payments went thru...the one I did over the phone and my automatic one! So I called before we left that morning and told them what happened and said I need the money back in there because we're going out of town and I can't be w/o money. Of course, she couldn't do anything about it and the supervisor was in a "meeting" but promised she'd have her call me that day-she never did!! So I call back Monday after going w/o money in my account all weekend. Now they tell me that they have to wait until the payments process before the can refund my money and on top of that other payments I had set up were not going thru because I was so overdrawn. After arguing they finally gave me a credit memo for the payment that showed up two hours later so I thought I was good to go. Oh no, of course not! The next morning I'm even more withdrawn because the credit was removed and service fees came thru! I called AGAIN and after arguing she said it would take 2-3 days to get refunded..I told them my daughter is having major brain surgery in a few days and I need to take care of bills before then. Finally, I got them to issue another credit but of course it takes 4-10 hours. This is one of many issues we've had w/Chase over the past few years. They also screwed up our refinancing!

closing our home loans... is it really that hard?

Nightmare.

We refinanced our home for a much better interest rate(6% to a 3%) with another company because Chase would not refinance us. We closed on May 6, 2013. Funds released on May 10,2013. Chase loan was paid off May 12. Home Equity line as well. We recieved a late payment notice around May 20,2013. We called to make sure all was paid off and ok. Yes it was...showing no balance other than $100 odd dollars in interest from the home equity line of credit for some reason. Fortunately I forgot to stop the automatic payment set up and they got overpaid, but it was indeed paid off. We asked if they could deposit the money back into my husbands checking account they said no it would be paid by check and take about 10 days. Ok fine....Here comes the good part....I received 14 letters, 4 certified, today, June 14 ,that they were forclosing on our house. First off we owed 6,000.00 on our first mortgage that we had with them for 15 years, and 64,000. line of credit. House has over 100,000 equity....really??? You are sending me 14 letters and it has all been paid???? called to complain and find out what the heck is going on was told oh sorry , yes it looks like it was paid in full on JUNE 12,2013.......What??? Well who sat on the paperwork then? Who paid the late fee that would of accummulated? Who paid the interest that would of accumulated? Did someone use the money for a month? Did you automatically generate a letter to the credit reporting agencencies too? No answer, Im sorry you will have to write a complaint to this address they dont take phone calls. Ill show them how to report a proper complaint. We are pulling out even our checking accounts. Beware!!!

A very pleasant experience

Majority of reviews on chase seem to be about their credit cards (in which I don't have one with chase)

However I do my personal banking (and have a personal checking and savings account) and overall have a very pleasant time. The tellers at the Tempe, Arizona locations (where I live) are very pleasant and friendly, they always greet me with a big smile and I enjoy having small conversations with them.

Despite everyone else's experience, telephone banking is no different. I love how they're always is little to no wait to talk to an agent and just how friendly and polite they are. Yes some of them often times had thick foreign accents but they still were able to be understood.

One example I would like to share is when I deposited a 4-digit amount check into a chase ATM, the receipt stated funds would not be available til almost a month. I called to inquire why; the first agent was unable to answer my question and then transferred me over to her manager whom explained to me that when a big check gets deposited, they're some standard protocols they must follow. However he said if I gave him permission to contact the writer of the check (and 3-way call me) right now to verify the amount that he would make the full amount available. After the 3-way call the company successfully verified that they wrote me a check in that amount and as promised the funds were available immediately after.

Despite all the negativity about Chase on this site, they personally have made me feel welcomed and I have full faith that my money is safe with Chase. I am happy customer and will be sure to continue banking with them in the long term future.

thankful experierence

I received a text alert early this morning inquiring if I made a certain purchase. My answer was no. I received an email an hour later asking about four other purchases, whether I made those. After researching my online banking and then talking to the Chase fraud department I found out that there were four attempts at making purchases with my debit card number. Thankfully none made it through as charged to my account. Three cheers for Chase Banks fraud alert and policies.

Going downhill

Been with Chase for many years since my Bank Washington mutual was purchased by them. Recently I found $25 invoicing fees on my account, when I inquired they told me I had signed up for the online invoicing service. I told them no, I had NOT and if they looked they would see none of that information to start using it was filled in. They argued saying that computers don't make mistakes and only took off the last months fees for it. Very disappointed, Computers don't make mistakes BUT programmers and people operating them do. I quick look would have shown that no information on the service was filled out so it would seem pretty dumb for me to have signed up for it. CHECK your bank statements carefully every month is my lesson.

Excellent Credit Cards, Bad Mortgage Side

My thoughts on this company are very polarized. I have 3 credit cards, always pay them off at the end of the month. I only have three because Chase paid me back the annual fee, and some, to keep my United card. I got the Sapphire card to replace it. I have been on the phone with them, probably on average once every 4 or 6 months for one reason or another (not because they did anything wrong) and they have always been more than helpful. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about the credit card side of things with Chase (but keep in mind, I am not carrying a balance. I am not sure how that would play into things).

Now, they just purchased my mortgage. This has been more of a problem. When they first purchased it, there were some payments I made to the old owner of the mortgage that ended up in limbo longer than I hoped. They kept giving me the same cookie cutter response.. wait 3 days, etc. At the end this fixed itself and I guess they were right. It would have been nice if they did a little research so I did not have to wait, but I can't fault them too much for that. What really bugged me though, was I ended up making an extra payment about a week after they purchased my mortgage. Instead of putting it all to principal, they considered it the following month's payment and took out interest from the payment as if I did not make the payment until the start of that following month.. almost 4 weeks later. Essentially they charged me a lot of interest on a loan that did not accrue much interest since the last payment because their computers treated it as if it were received the following month. I called them up and they had that changed 3 days later, but it really should never have happened. It sounds illegal to charge interest like this. I have considered complaining to the state Attorney General because I bet this is happening to other people who don't realize it.

So all in all, I am very happy with their credit card operations, not so happy with the mortgage side.

Does not lend to small businesses!!

After keeping a business and personal account with Chase for over 15 years, they turned us down for a line of credit. We have an extremely high daily average balance, have 4 of their credit cards, whose payments are never late, have an excellent credit score, and still were declined. Bank of America and one other local bank, with whom we have no prior business relationship, gave us loans within two days, with minimal paperwork!! I guess its time to switch banks. And here we thought a long term relationship would pay off!! Not with Chase!!

horrible & dishonest

I have paid Chase about $150 or more overdraft fee with in last two month just because Chase hold my money for unnecessary reason and therefore I get behind in my payments and pay Chase overdraft fee.

I been with Chase for about three years. I have personal checking account with Chase and business account with BOFA. Every month three or four times I transfer money from BOFA account to Chase. Last year I signed a contract with Chase not to charge monthly fee and overdraft fee but the condition is I have to have direct deposit which I do. So I signed the contract hoping I am safe. For last few months Chase started charging me overdraft fee. When I questioned either telephone chase banker or walking branch in Fremont / Mowry location. In return respond I get stories after stories and when I prove them wrong they come up with another brand new story. The situation is I request BOFA to transfer fund to Chase account three or four times of month. BOFA transfer money within 24 hours and I have proof. however Chase take two, three some cases week to update the funds in my account and its all CASH. while my account is in service I am making payments however due to lack of Chase bank processing system money doesn't get available on time so Chase charge me overdraft fee.

Question: I asked Chase customer service why are you taking days some time weeks to update my funds even though its CASH. In return respond its a Chase processing time. However there is no fix or listed time line when your money will be available. I asked why? Chase respond with another new story; Chase TERMS and CONDITIONS. Chase is playing very sneaky and technical terms with me and taking full advantage just because they can. There is more to it however I believe I have run out of space. thanks mybanktracker to update my review.

MORTGAGE MODIFICATION

I know many people have had issues with Chase but I would like to share what happened to me. I think the reason why I had a positive experience because I actually had two workers that cared about my predicament. We actually started getting behind in 2011 after my husband's heart attack. It seemed that was the changing point. I got behind on payments. Robbing Peter to pay Paul and barely having money for gas and food...sometimes wondering which was needed more. I spent so much time and two years trying to catch up or stay caught up my stress level was about to kill me. We were about to lose our home and one day I was on the phone with a customer service employee and she suggested that I do a loan modification. I was very apprehensive because other customer service employees told me we didn't qualify. I finally relented and filled out the paperwork. She even told me how to fill it out and what to do. Our contact in the loan modification, Dustin, couldn't have been more pleasant to work with. He talked me through everything. He called by the next day if I called and left a message. Well, after 3 months we were approved for a modification. We gave up the 5 years of equity to start over - but there wasn't much because we were so far behind. We ended up with a 3.5% interest rate (down from 6.5%) and our monthly payment dropped by $500.00 and that's a lot when your payment is $1400.00 We paid a total of $28.00 for the modification and didn't have to pay any late fees, or missed payments...it was all factored back into our mortgage that is now affordable. So, thank you to the 2 people at Chase that helped us with saving our home.
