Infinitely Screwed! Bank kept my car loan but moved out of state!

Over five years ago I go a loan on an automobile through a car dealer. For about a year I could pay the bank direct but through a series of buyouts (with Charter One) the bank no longer kept offices in Indiana. Thus my car loan became a mystery even to me. For the longest time the only way to pay was by phone which of course had a ten dollar fee each month. The bank eventually made the online payment work but went through an outside vendor. Information for the loan has also been difficult to get...things like the balance, payment terms, late fees are apparently kept in a vault only accessible by spending at least fifteen minutes waiting to even talk to a bank representative. I'm really not sure when the loan gets paid off, while I must calculate the interest myself as this too remains in the vault with the many late fees, phone payment charges, statements and payoff information. Unfortunately they say I only owe 1545 dollars which seems to be very similar to the amount they told me I owed last year.

Bank went from ok to really really bad..

I wish I could go into how this bank screws up and then charges you fee after fee.. I wish I had time to take them to court. O well, after more than 18 years at one bank I guess it is time to move on.

$150+ Fees From Banker Error, No Remedying the Situation

I've been a customer with this bank for 10+ years. I wanted to switch to Citadel, so I went into the Exton branch to close all of my accounts. I removed all of my money and left. I start getting phone calls every day from collectors, letters in the mail, saying my account is $256 overdrawn. When I call, they say my account was never closed and I'm getting a $7 fee every single week, plus other fees. Then, when they looked more into it, they found the account was closed, but then 8 days later my $11 tax refund was direct deposited into it and automatically re-opened my account. I was told "everyone learns lessons sometimes" and that I should "know better". When you close an account, I assumed the account would stay closed unless you authorized to re-open it? After much attitude of saying it was NOT a bank error, none of the fees could be removed and I'm left with a $300+ bill I have to pay to them. I would never recommend this bank to anyone, just based on this experience alone. No one ever told me any of this could/would happen.

Horrible Bank.

I went with this bank because I had heard pretty good things about it from others I knew, or had contact with. I went in to get a savings account, but they refused to open a savings account because I didn't have enough money. I had I believe $300 on me to open an account. I was young and was very misinformed. I ended up opening a checking account because the guy told me for what I wanted to do it would be smarter and a better outcome in the end. Needless to say, it wasn't. Because I couldn't withdraw money as many times as they told me, or add money in my account ended up getting fees each month and eating into my savings. I went to close my account and contacted them via email and phone and they did not close my account. They only closed it after I had threatened a BB report. They waved the overdraft fees and closed my account. I moved out of state and went to set up an account at another bank today, and was denied because Citizens bank made a report on me and now I am screwed. This bank is horrible. They don't care about their costumers, they only care about getting more money through bogus fees.

Worst bank ever

Everytime you phone the 800 number for customer service, they NEVER resolve your question. The poeple are highly untrained and customers are put on hold as they pass around your question from one department to another. I have called at least 10 times with various simple inquiries and have never received a resolution. I've given up with the 800 number. I then try to call my local branch and they always say you need to come into branch for resolution of issue. We are in the 21st century, why can't an issue get resolve easily on the phone or via web.

No more canadian tourist in Vermont

Citizen Bank charges $20 flat fee for foreign currency exchange !!

Tourism is a large part of economy in Vermont. Logically the neighboring Canada was always very important contributor.

Lately we do not see them here almost at all and I am no more wondering, why?

Outrageous fee's

This bank looks for anyway to fudge your transactions and deposits in a way to take more money from you. I made the mistake of going negative. My balance was good during the day and before I went to bed, when I woke up I was negative. As their policy states you have until the end of the business day to put money in to avoid a fee. Well low and behold they put it through after hours but still claim it as the prior day so there is NO opportunity to utitilze this privilege. I got $148 bucks in NSF fee's for $14. It is robbery. Branch tellers are nice but if you call customer service they are highly rude, wouldn't recommend this bank if it were the last one on earth.

Arrogant people and crazy fees

I took a $3900 check from a customer of Citizens bank. When I tried to cash it, they wanted a $9 fee, my fingerprints, and wanted me to wait 24 hours for the money. When I complained to the manager, she told me to abide by their policy or cash it somewhere else. IT WAS THEIR CHECK! Why should I have to cash it somewhere else? NEVER take a check from a Citizens bank customer!

Horrible Bank

DO NOT USE THIS BANK----no consideraton of economic hardship-no deferment of payment after 12 years of perfect payment-no letter from them allowed listing payment history-all in all a rather pathetic company and in this of competition they hopefully won't last---I just read all the reviews---why would they leave this site up??? It screams, "Run away!"

This place has a serious PR problem.

Look for another bank - Wouldn't let me close my bank account...

Let me start off with stating that this bank is very mediocre and there is no reason to choose it. Look elsewhere. The bank's rates are horrible, there are hidden fees, and need to fix issues within their system.

While up at college, my account had to re-created because of an error--an error that neither employees at the bank or customer support could figure out. I was without any money for almost 2 weeks; this is when I should have taken my money else where.

More recently, they started charging me $10 a month without any notice. The only reason I kept this bank account open was because I had automatic payments for loans tied to it. Why would I stay with this bank when there are banks out there that provide better rates and services for free?

I stopped the few automatic payments I had being withdrawn with the bank. I went and closed the bank account at the Citizens Banks closest to me (the one mentioned in this complaint). After a few weeks, I received overdraft correspondence via postal mail. Apparently, the $10 per month reopened my account and, alongside the $10 fee, I was charged a $37 overdraft fee! Shortly after that, the 2 loans that I had switched the automatic payments to another banks and had paid off in advance attempted to be withdrawn from the bank; this caused two more $37 fees. When I attempted to get the charges dropped, the manager just told me that it wasn't a bank error. Why hadn't the account been closed in the first place? I was told that I would no longer be able to deposit or withdraw money from it...but apparently others could? After getting nowhere with the manager, I decided to pay the fees and look elsewhere for compensation of the error. What really put icing on the cake was when I went to pay the outstanding balance, they couldn't deposit any money into my account because it was **CLOSED**. So after about 10 minutes, they were able to reopen the account to deposit the money.

Look elsewhere for a bank, this branch w
