"Not Bad" to "Intolerable" over 6 yrs.

Comerica, in short, has more hidden fees and shady policies coupled with grossly outdated measures toward customer service and online technology than any bank I've worked with. A failure to remain competitive, relevant, or remotely interested in assisting customers beyond the minimal places even the average Ebay seller above them in terms of e-commerce experience. Limited banking hours/locations, dated ATM's with unintelligible UI's, unreliable and limited feature via their site, plus poor synchronization with credit card info -thus causing online business transactions to fail or delay, and arduous steps and/or limited training amongst staff to assist in resolving the most basic issues has forced me to move my accounts. Business and personal. At this point I feel I could select another bank at random to move my money to and land a better relationship. While I fully intend to research I can say without a doubt that Comerica's business model will never evolve to become noticeable or reliable in the today’s market. With that, stay clear and educate anyone you meet that’s a customer of Comerica on the benefits of banking elsewhere.

Stop before you open an acct at Comerica. Hidden Fees for depositing cash. Long holds to use my money.

Opened a business acct. Tried to deposit a Cashier's Check written from a bank across the street. Comerica told me I would have to wait overnight to use the funds from a cashier's check. So, I went to bank of origin and converted it to cash. Tried to deposit cash at Comerica and was charged $5.99 fee on my statement for depositing cash. Their Rule is any amount over $1000 gets a fee. What bank doesn't want cash? Every time I deposited money I had to wait until THEY said I could use it or keep a super high balance. Their sign says they can hold a deposit up to 9 days! So the final straw came when a vendor put through a $500 Auto bank draft I had cancelled previously. Comerica honored it with a $33 overdraft fee. They did not call, email or alert me to the overdraft until 6 days later by mail so they could rack up NSF fees., When I reversed the $500 bank draft they told me it could take up to 3 days to credit my acct and there was nothing I could do about it. When I finally got the credit, I went to the bank to close my account. She said because it was a business acct they would have to give me my balance in Cashier's Check.. She went to the trouble of creating a cashier's check and gave it to me. I walked 20' to the teller window and they told me that they couldn't cash it because I didn't have an acct there anymore. Yes! What stupidity!!! I told them to override the system and she said she couldn't. When I started raising my voice that they needed to give me back my money in front of the other customers, the branch manager cut me off and told me to wait while she figured it out. She reversed closing the acct., withdrew my money, gave me cash and then manually closed it again. All this in front of a poster that said "More Business rewards. Less Rules." Ridiculous! Don't bank there!!!

Left Hand doesn't know what the Right Hand is Doing

I have checking, savings, and investments at Comerica Bank in the Houston area. The personal checking/savings people are incredibly good, friendly and professional. The Investment side seems to resent you for being a customer. They are officious, disorganized, and will even mess up your retirement money and taxes with mistakes. I complained (bitterly) to the local and regional managers about several errors on their part. I have now been told - in writing - to transfer my accounts to another bank. Now THAT is customer service better suited to Russia or a Third World Country. I, of course, will pull out completely rather than suffer the indignities of tolerating and then being insulted by a puffed up bank clerk with a title.

Horrible Bank....greedy Beyond All Reason!

I have been a very profitable customer for more than 25 years at comerica. When i say profitable... I mean savings accounts, mortgages and multiple checking accounts both personal and commercial. When i last refinanced.... They tried to talk me into taking more money than i said i needed.... I resisited. I have never missed a payment, have a credit score in the 700's and continue to pay my mortgages which are portfolio loans.... Not just serviced by comerica. They have my equity line at 6. 31% and my first mortgage at 5%. They will not let me re-finance and i have taken this issue up the management ladder to no avail. There can be only one reson for this..... A bunch of selfish greedy pigs chraging a great customer who had unquestioned loyalty for many years. They will not let me re-finance because they "do not have to"..... That's right. Why take less money from a long time customer when you can nail them for more? This is in part from the branch manager at the troy-john r location who is a horrible manager..... She could help...... But does nothing! Even more guilty is a woman called the head of "customer satistfaction" named sue schmidt. She promised me a resolution, dragged it out for more than 8 months.... Then did nothing! Unreturned phone calls and total incompetence! Again.... These people are nothing but greeedy pigs and i will leave this company as soon as i can get refinanced from any other bank.

Horrible, switching banks this week!!

I have never been treated so badly by any "customer service" rep. Her name was Nelly, she was beyond rude. In fact, I have never been treated that badly in my life. WIll be contacting BBB to let them know what kind of business this bank is running. Not only did Comerica not send me out a new card before mine expired, they then said they were Rushing a card to me and I should get it in 4 days... A week later still no way to get money from my account besides having to actually deal with the horrible service in the bank. I called and card services said they manager at the Comerica Bank here in Arizona NEVER actually had a new card sent out to me. So now I have to wait another 7-10 days before I can get "another" card. I have been with this bank for 26 years and am no longer able to stand the lack of customer service this bank offers. What bank can't issue a temp. replacement ATM card?

Not Bad

The branches are old but the people are nice. They need to update the ATMs and come into the year 2011. Hey comerica the iPhone app is not the same as a iPad app. I don't care that they outsourced the credit cards...

30 years experience with their business & personal accounts of all types. Exceptional professional service.

With rare exception, I have always found their staff to be pleasent and professional. They not only seem to care, that actually do care. I have had several business checking accounts, business loans, personal checking, equity loans and money market accounts with them over the years and it has always been a great experience. They have also handled all my normal banking needs such as certified checks, money orders or travelers checks in a professional manner. They also have an investment division where you can purchase stocks and bonds and make market trades. Again, very professional.

I must also point out that not all the years I have been banking with them were good years for me. I have seen my up's and down's in my business life. They were there for the good times and the bad times. I have defaulted on payments with them, and seen the dark side of their collection department. But, even then, they were professional in thier actions and I was not left with the feeling that they were trying to bury me just for the sake of collecting every dollar they could.

Many of the reviews I have read on this site are from disgrunteled customers that more than likely brought their problems on themselves. I think in important that both sides of every issue should be presented in order to give objectivity to such reviews. I hope this review has been helpful to those that are looking for a new bank to do business with. You'll enjoy your experience with Comerica Bank, assuming you, yourself, don't bring the roof down on your own head:)

Wow! What a great bank!

After bad service at Bank of America and Bank of the West my wife and I got rid of our bank accounts and were considering going to cash-on-hand. I had to cash my pay check so I went to my employer's bank, Comerica. I had checked out Comerica online to see about opening an account there, but their requirements were pretty steep. So I go into the Fremont, CA branch to cash my pay check and found out they have a special offer not listed on their website for employees of companies that have accounts with Comerica. They call it "On the Job Banking." It is a no maintenance fee, no minimum balance checking and savings account with very reasonable overdraft fees. This means we have never been slapped with those pesky fees that seem to pop up out of no where and you only find out about them when you look at your account online.

As part of the On the Job Banking account offer they deposited $50 into my checking account after my first 3 months with them just for not over drafting!!!

Moreover, a great feature of On the Job Banking is that if we use a non-Comerica ATM to pull money out Comerica will waive their fee and reimburse us for the fee the bank whose ATM we used charged us, up to 6 times per month!

I have only been to the Fremont, CA branch, but every time my wife or I go there they are pleasant and treat us with respect even though we are not one of their million dollar customers. The customer service is the best I have ever received from a bank.

This is the best banking experience ever.

Nightmare On Main Street

I took a buyout from one of the big three auto companies. When I received

my buyout check I opened up a checking and savings account. I also bought two

six month CD's.

This bank and the auto company I worked for mishandled the whole buyout process

so bad, I thought I was dealing with the three stooges. I pulled most of my money

out as soon as I could and stuck it in my mattress. In the six months that I had an account with this bank, I experienced 10 years of stress.
