Worst bank ever, Takes forever to clear checks, does not have up to date info, completely false records.

This has to be the worst bank. I really would like to start a lawsuit against them for their mistakes costing me money. They constantly change information and dates on transactions, take forever to clear checks, do not have up to date transaction info. I received two overdraft fees for their mistakes but they backpedaled and changed dates on my account to make it appear as though it was my fault. My advice (and I wish I would've followed this myself) is to take daily screen shots and save as well as print these with the date of save and print somewhere clear so that if you encounter the same problem you have evidence to back yourself up. They do dirty business, and on second thought, you should just run in the opposite direction of any Key Bank you may have even the tiniest inclination to walk in to. Horrible service, they are rude and incompetent and I can't believe I put up with their crap for five years, but no more. Switched banks and got $100 for doing it. Screw you Key.

the worst bank that doesn't care

I have my student loans through this bank and dearly regret that I do. they are the worst bank, sincerely do not care about working with you or even listening. they are also nasty, a bank like this should be taken on off the map and not allowed to even issue student loans. HORRIBLE!

Key Bank Loan Department doesn't know what it's doing

We aplied for a loan that they have numerous times told us we were approved for arbitrary amounts (higher than what we asked for) but everyday there is a reason to not close.  When they finally called and scheduled the close, they did not send the papers to the branch to actually close the loan.  Apparently the documents they they required which were filled out by another bank were never seen before by the other bank and had an error which they told us about the prior week.  Instead of fixing it then, they waited until after 2 people took off work for a close that THEY called and scheduled to say, oh were not ready.  THANKS KEY FOR BEING SUCH INCOMPETENT A@@#^&$*!!

Prepare to pay an arm and a leg in fees

I am so frustrated with key bank that I canceled my accounts and am going to join a credit union. I over drafted my debit card and instead of alerting me or declining my card they just charged me 37 dollars every time I went over. I noticed it after the first one, added the money to pay it off and then deposited 80 at the nearest branch. Because it took them so long for my deposit to go through, I over drafted again, then didn't have enough but was unaware of this so I over drafted again and again. I had to pay over 180 dollars in fees alone. The fact that I was still able to use my card at this point and that the bank never notified me is ridiculous. Also, they have fees for everything, using an atm, non online banking etc. I also have gone out of the country several times and was able to use my card without notifying them and without drawing any suspicion. This might be a positive to some, but to me it shows that they are not keeping good enough track. What am I getting for all this extra money? Nothing. Their interests rates are nothing special the website is totally organized. Key Bank can suck my dick, I'm joining a credit union.

Archaic banking practices with NO idea about customer courtesy

Believing it was convenient to open an account where my employer banked, I setup an automatic deposit with KeyBank. In spite of the inability to transfer funds to other banks online and having to wait till the bank manually approves the transaction like the good old days, I remained as a customer for a few months. Later when I changed my job, I received a letter from a collection agency demanding to pay $32 for Key Bank. So I returned to the bank to inquire what was going on and realized that as my automatic deposit had not been arriving to the bank since I had changed jobs, they had started charging me $18 as service charge and when my bank balance had gone negative, they had decided to transfer for collection. So I asked them why didnt thry even have some courtesy to call and inform or inquire, I was told that was the Banks policy. So I immediately closed my account as there were so many other banks and credit unions who understood their customers much better and had courtesy not to push customers under the bus without even making an inquiry. Therefore, I feel its a sad excuse for a Bank in today's day and age where much personalized services can be received from so many Banks.

Key bank is horrible!

Same as about the rest of all these reviews... horrible banking and fees. They will find a reason to charge you for anything. My story is the same as the rest ... a $4.21 negative balance due to their fees, and a cascade of OD fees totaling $185!!

It's criminal, they refer to the fine print and hold onto their fee structure. Just don't bank here please... same story as the rest, just bad ethics from the core all the way down to the lowest teller, they are in business to take your money, not help you bank.

Too bad they don't have ZERO in the review

I can not stress this enough, do not bank with them.

Sorry, I just deleted so much. I will try to temper my rage and distill it into "key" points - from smallest to worst

Constantly locked out if you use phone app and computer.

Short term CD took over 14 days to open - Day to sign up, week for them to mail signature card and for me to get it, another few days in the mail until Key got it back, numerous days before it posts. I can buy stocks, bonds, mutual funds, instantly over the internet. It took over 2 weeks to open a short term CD over the internet with Key. Rediculous.

Key Rewards - Holy jeese is this a bad program. I use Key as my primary checking account, and I have a credit card. For me to make back the 40 dollar annual fee for key, I would have to write/recieve 15 checks a month (that's the cap for getting points on checks/deposits) and then spend 48,000 dollars on your debit card to earn enough points for a 50 dollar gift card. They do not do anything besides 25 dollar or 50 dollar gift cards, and then Skymall level overpriced junk. So the only way to make it back is either spending a whole hell of a lot of money, or opening these CD's which are more of a pain and at such low rates that my USAA savings account beats them.

Service is terrible. I can't believe I am saying this, but I found the call center to be better than the people at the branch office. That's saying more about how bad the real people are than anything else. Everything, top to bottom, terrible. I hope they fail, and they are not bailed out, because they are not competetive with other bank.

oh almost forgot, they hold money as pending for far longer than any other bank. It's rediculous. You deposit it, in person, and maybe three days later you can have your money. God help you if you are trying to use some of that money lost in the pending limbo.

ATM Nightmare

By "chance" a teller at Key Bank mentioned they were updating the software on the ATM system so my card wouldn't work "for a couple of days". I remarked it would have been nice to have been notified before hand as I could have been left in the lurch. After 3 or 4 days I figured the update should be completed. The bank was closed, so I went to the ATM. "Nothing" One of the representatives just locking the door suggested it was the "type" of savings account I had. He'd fix it the next day. I went back, he "fixed" it and said give it a day or two. Had I been away and needing cash I would have been in real trouble for it STILL did not work after 3 days. It wasn't just me...two and a half weeks later others were standing at the ATM having the same problems. No one at Key Bank communicated with me on this potentially problematic situation, nor about the fix that did not work. I am in process of switching to another bank. Should be completed in two week.

Never had such problems with HSBC
