PNC bank priority is NOT Customer Service, only profit

I prefer minimal interaction with PNC, as I have one checking account and an ATM card. Recently I have been forced to read ads when I use their ATMs, and cannot get my funds without replying to these ads (Y or N for info.) I feel ATMs should provide rapid means to do my banking, and very much resent being forced to read ads some Marketing moron thought was a good idea. I have called PNC 5 times complaining about this, the most recent yesterday (19 Sept.) For almost 20 minutes I explained that if I need such ad info, I can walk into a branch or go online for the info - the priority for ATMs should be rapid use. The 'customer service' rep (who had some pompous other title) told me 1. I was the only one complaining, 2. it would be 'difficult' to change 12,000 ATMs, and that since the ATMs were their property, they had the 'right' to waste my time. I then explained they were already wasting my time by forcing me to select a language to use the ATMs (here in a country where the language of business is ENGLISH,) and that wasting even 3 seconds of my time was not their right. He adamantly refused to do anything, and stated that there was 'no one else' I could talk to about this. If enough customers stop being sheep about how PNC does business, they would change their ATM procedures and remove forced ads, and make the default language ENGLISH. I am actively looking for another local bank, or a credit union, as they do not deserve my business; I will investigate filing a complaint with the BBB. My time is valuable to me, isn't yours?

VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE

As Trustee of my parents' trust I had to deal with a PNC checking account that became as asset of the trust, or would have if PNC hadn't held it up for two months because of a grammatical error in the title of the account. Instead of taking a reasonable approach, they required "proof" of a negative that such a trust did not exist - a letter from an attorney that entailed unnecessary expense to the estate.

They then refused to accept a deposit of my parents' Treasury Bonds to the account, even after they acknowledged the account was an assest of the trust, basically telling a lie that these bonds had to be redeemed by mail with the U.S. Treasury. We took the bonds to SunTrust the next day and were able to cash them there.

I undertand the need to follow legal requirements, but I know for a fact that they could have been more helpful and choose not to be. I will be closing the account (which is fairly substantial) and depositing with a smaller, more local bank which provides excellent customer service. By the way the branch I dealt with is Roxboro Road in Durham, NC.

Credit rating.

I had a VISA card credit limit of $15000 with outstanding credit for ver 30yrs with this bank.

I was in the hospital for over 3 mo with mutiple heart attacks and other complications. My relative threw out bills from Chase bank which wee only $301.00 because they thought it was just more mare pimping. The credt people dropped my credit to $900 and refused to increase it again, even after I cleard my Chase ccount, and had documentation.

PNC told me " we are taking a hard ine lok at credit".....so for 30 yrs of god creit you that that cold response...

Closed Account

PNC closed my sons account, which is fine. But, my sons neglected to change his information on his school's financial aid site, and the money was deposited into the closed account. Instead of PNC sending the money back to the school, they held the money. My son finally called the school to find out what what happened to his check and was told it was sent to PNC. He then called PNC, and they were just holding his money. They finally agreed to mail it in 2 weeks. This behavior is unacceptable by any financial institution. Needless to say, we closed all accounts with PNC.

not so good

I just received a letter from PNC bank notifying me that they are closing my business account and personal account. When I called them to ask why they kept saying we have a right to do so without explanation. Looks like the girl who sits their just a bird girl. I am very disappointed in such service. I do move large amounts of money in and out due to nature of my business. But it's all clear and I pay my taxes. Can't understand what is going on. I will file a bbb report about them but really nervous now. And they never return my ATM fees.

Terrible Bank! Don't even apply for a loan from them.

We have a home equity loan with PNC (was transferred when they purchased RBC Bank). I find it unreal that I can not get access to our monthly payments and balance amounts. I was told by PNC customer service (ha!) that the only way to get a monthly statement regarding our loan was to PAY THEM $6.00 for EACH copy and they would MAIL it to me!!!!!!

They also said that detailed loan information isn't available via their on-line banking system!

PNC is operating in the wrong century!

Good for the everyday person, perhaps not as much for important businessmen

A person who doesn't have to manage important business accounts daily, PNC is not a bad choice at all. Very nice branch availability, fast money transfers, and many useful features, such as overdraft protection, and I receive refunds for all ATM fees. One thing that may be lacking is their customer service, which isn't terrible, but not as responsive as you'd expect from a smaller bank. Works fine for me though, and online banking is a pleasant experience.

Good for a school age student, if you need hand holding

I am very displeased with PNC, a former home town bank to me. The bank is very rigid and has an awkward Virtual Wallet system for managing accounts. The cash to transfer is suitable for a 16-year old but not a professional or a business man. It is a good learning tool perhaps, but talk about useless frills and cash mangement. The screen lay- out and navagation is silly. The large blocks with useless information are overkill. Archiving is a nuiance. Transferring in and out of inter-bank and brokage accounts is trival (keep it under $2,000 or it is a no go). I deal with Huntington Banks and I like their system; but no local offices at my new home. When I first opened the account, I explained my spending and banking habbits. Wasted time there - I got plesant lip service but no appropriate account. In addition, the cash incenitive for opening a new account was made confusing by design. Even after complying with all the nonsense, I did not receive full reimbursement.
