“Shockingly Incompetent”
Too many experiences over the last 5 years to share all. High points:
Changing primary members on a business account, requiring no less than 6 visits in person only to find the original names were still on the account more than six months later.
No way (even temporarily) to raise the limit on a DEBIT card beyond $5,000. I fail to see their risk when there is 10-20x the amount requested in the account. Eventually I gave up arguing with them and just used ACH/wire transfers when necessary.
Final straw, getting dinged $3/deposit ticket accessed online ($300+ in total, yes, the fee is listed in the bowels of their fee document, but nothing notifies you as you access it online). Their response after having an account in good standing with an average balance > $100k for over 5 years? "You should have known that, it's in the fee document".
I hope the fee is worth it, I don't understand how this bank stays in business.

“Great Branch”
My wife and I were sold through a number of transactions to PNC. We tend to prefer local banks, which is what we had originally. The staff at this PNC branch has kept us a customer. They greet you by name, even though I am sure I am not a major depositor. We were so impressed with this branch, that we opened our business accounts there. We originally dealt with a different branch, at Tesson Ferry, and they were great too.

“Worst experience of my life and getting worse with each call.”
I have an airplane loan with PNC. If I have a question about the loan is impossible to get information by calling the customer service number.
I spend at least 30 minutes on the phone with each call, transferred multiple times, each person saying they don't have correct access to the loan information. Arg! It is so frustrating.
I absolutely hate this bank and do not recommend that anyone does business with them.

“VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE”
As Trustee of my parents' trust I had to deal with a PNC checking account that became as asset of the trust, or would have if PNC hadn't held it up for two months because of a grammatical error in the title of the account. Instead of taking a reasonable approach, they required "proof" of a negative that such a trust did not exist - a letter from an attorney that entailed unnecessary expense to the estate.
They then refused to accept a deposit of my parents' Treasury Bonds to the account, even after they acknowledged the account was an assest of the trust, basically telling a lie that these bonds had to be redeemed by mail with the U.S. Treasury. We took the bonds to SunTrust the next day and were able to cash them there.
I undertand the need to follow legal requirements, but I know for a fact that they could have been more helpful and choose not to be. I will be closing the account (which is fairly substantial) and depositing with a smaller, more local bank which provides excellent customer service. By the way the branch I dealt with is Roxboro Road in Durham, NC.

“Credit rating.”
I had a VISA card credit limit of $15000 with outstanding credit for ver 30yrs with this bank.
I was in the hospital for over 3 mo with mutiple heart attacks and other complications. My relative threw out bills from Chase bank which wee only $301.00 because they thought it was just more mare pimping. The credt people dropped my credit to $900 and refused to increase it again, even after I cleard my Chase ccount, and had documentation.
PNC told me " we are taking a hard ine lok at credit".....so for 30 yrs of god creit you that that cold response...

“Closed Account”
PNC closed my sons account, which is fine. But, my sons neglected to change his information on his school's financial aid site, and the money was deposited into the closed account. Instead of PNC sending the money back to the school, they held the money. My son finally called the school to find out what what happened to his check and was told it was sent to PNC. He then called PNC, and they were just holding his money. They finally agreed to mail it in 2 weeks. This behavior is unacceptable by any financial institution. Needless to say, we closed all accounts with PNC.

“not so good”
I just received a letter from PNC bank notifying me that they are closing my business account and personal account. When I called them to ask why they kept saying we have a right to do so without explanation. Looks like the girl who sits their just a bird girl. I am very disappointed in such service. I do move large amounts of money in and out due to nature of my business. But it's all clear and I pay my taxes. Can't understand what is going on. I will file a bbb report about them but really nervous now. And they never return my ATM fees.
