Visa Card Deception

went to PNC because they handled Freddie MAC/Fannie Mae Mortgages -

OK - banking officer suggested I apply for a VISA card because new home - expenses - 12 mos. interest free - OK !! I set up - paid for some expenses - Busy - Set up Auto Pay for min. payment was going to pay off whole thing within 12 mos. - Found out even though I didn't receive any statements or notice - THAT THEY WERE CHARGING ME INTEREST ON A PURCHASE FROM THE 6TH MONTH - Upon Calling I got the Snotty Remark I should have read the very clear disclosure statement - I said I was sold the CARD - during the hectic moving process and was told it would be 12 mos. interest free - that I didn't feel I had to sit down and read a 20 page fine print contract if the Financial Rep at the bank said it would be 12 mos. interest free - (turns out 12 mos. interest free on a Transfer - 6 mos on purchase) - said having an MBA - from an Ivy League School - I could read the contract - but if I ask and am told it's 12 mos. interest free - and I'm approached during a busy time like moving - I would assume I could trust the Verbal Explanation - PNC CUSTOMER SERVICE REP. AND SUPERVISOR - said read the Disclosure - THIS BANK IS FOR THE BIRDS - I suggested the least they could do is offer some form of credit - and my intent to avoid paying 23 percent APR was clear that when I found out for the first time their interest I PAID THE WHOLE BALANCE OFF IMMEDIATELY -

No Dice - I JUST SAID FINE - I'M GOING TO WRITE MY ELECTED OFFICIALS AND POST ALL OVER ABOUT THEIR LITTLE SCAM - AND SNOTTY - BAD ATTITUDE - Probably - Just Told - This is the Line - You Give Customers if you want to Keep Your Job ! A pity but that's what seems to be common place business practice - you loose a couple of customers and you rope another 5 in!!! JUST DOING MY BIT TO KEEP PEOPLE FROM GETTING ROPED!!!!!!!! CAVEAT EMPTOR!

Worst experience of my life and getting worse with each call.

I have an airplane loan with PNC. If I have a question about the loan is impossible to get information by calling the customer service number.

I spend at least 30 minutes on the phone with each call, transferred multiple times, each person saying they don't have correct access to the loan information. Arg! It is so frustrating.

I absolutely hate this bank and do not recommend that anyone does business with them.

VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE

As Trustee of my parents' trust I had to deal with a PNC checking account that became as asset of the trust, or would have if PNC hadn't held it up for two months because of a grammatical error in the title of the account. Instead of taking a reasonable approach, they required "proof" of a negative that such a trust did not exist - a letter from an attorney that entailed unnecessary expense to the estate.

They then refused to accept a deposit of my parents' Treasury Bonds to the account, even after they acknowledged the account was an assest of the trust, basically telling a lie that these bonds had to be redeemed by mail with the U.S. Treasury. We took the bonds to SunTrust the next day and were able to cash them there.

I undertand the need to follow legal requirements, but I know for a fact that they could have been more helpful and choose not to be. I will be closing the account (which is fairly substantial) and depositing with a smaller, more local bank which provides excellent customer service. By the way the branch I dealt with is Roxboro Road in Durham, NC.

Credit rating.

I had a VISA card credit limit of $15000 with outstanding credit for ver 30yrs with this bank.

I was in the hospital for over 3 mo with mutiple heart attacks and other complications. My relative threw out bills from Chase bank which wee only $301.00 because they thought it was just more mare pimping. The credt people dropped my credit to $900 and refused to increase it again, even after I cleard my Chase ccount, and had documentation.

PNC told me " we are taking a hard ine lok at credit".....so for 30 yrs of god creit you that that cold response...

Closed Account

PNC closed my sons account, which is fine. But, my sons neglected to change his information on his school's financial aid site, and the money was deposited into the closed account. Instead of PNC sending the money back to the school, they held the money. My son finally called the school to find out what what happened to his check and was told it was sent to PNC. He then called PNC, and they were just holding his money. They finally agreed to mail it in 2 weeks. This behavior is unacceptable by any financial institution. Needless to say, we closed all accounts with PNC.

not so good

I just received a letter from PNC bank notifying me that they are closing my business account and personal account. When I called them to ask why they kept saying we have a right to do so without explanation. Looks like the girl who sits their just a bird girl. I am very disappointed in such service. I do move large amounts of money in and out due to nature of my business. But it's all clear and I pay my taxes. Can't understand what is going on. I will file a bbb report about them but really nervous now. And they never return my ATM fees.

Terrible Bank! Don't even apply for a loan from them.

We have a home equity loan with PNC (was transferred when they purchased RBC Bank). I find it unreal that I can not get access to our monthly payments and balance amounts. I was told by PNC customer service (ha!) that the only way to get a monthly statement regarding our loan was to PAY THEM $6.00 for EACH copy and they would MAIL it to me!!!!!!

They also said that detailed loan information isn't available via their on-line banking system!

PNC is operating in the wrong century!

Good for the everyday person, perhaps not as much for important businessmen

A person who doesn't have to manage important business accounts daily, PNC is not a bad choice at all. Very nice branch availability, fast money transfers, and many useful features, such as overdraft protection, and I receive refunds for all ATM fees. One thing that may be lacking is their customer service, which isn't terrible, but not as responsive as you'd expect from a smaller bank. Works fine for me though, and online banking is a pleasant experience.
