“Horrible customer service”
Since their merger last year with the worst US bank, AmSouth, their customer service has bit the dust. It's no wonder they're having to close almost 300 branches this year. They just don't know what they're doing any more. It used to be a friendly community-type bank, but now they are saddled with so many problems. Try to get a human on the phone. The branch phone numbers are no longer published in the phone book so you have to call their 1-800 phone computer and good luck getting anything done there. Be prepared to wait a long time and double-check the results. Also, try to make a loan payment online. You can't unless you have a checking account with them. Now, what business doesn't allow you to pay your bill online??? My best advice to you is to take your business elsewhere.
Additional reviews for Regions Bank
“Good at first then sharply declined.”
Regions was fine at first for normal checking, however once I got a loan through them, everything went downhill. The first major issue I have is they require a pending period for transfers between my checking and my savings accounts which can last for several days. This means the money (that is mine) is not available for me until this pending period has expired.
One month, when one of my loan payments were due, I transferred money into the primary account so there was enough money to cover the loan auto debit. When the debit went through, their system decided I didn't have the money in there (due to the above pending period), so they transferred additional money between the two same accounts, and charged a $11 fee to do so!
After the loan was paid off, it sat in online banking for weeks, still saying I owed money on it. They even sent me another bill, that was dated two weeks after I paid the loan off. The phone reps just suggested it needed to wait to sync, and couldn't say when that would happen. Finally after numerous phone calls they finally resolved the issue.
One Saturday I also attempted to pull money out of my account via their ATM, however their machine kept denying the transaction, even though there was plenty of money in there. And, their secure messages section in the online banking has not been functional for months, even after numerous reports to them, they still just say they are working on it.
Additionally, my accounts were also checking accounts that earned interest, and they decided to drop the rate to 0.01% one day, with no notice at all.
I am currently in the process of switching to a local credit union, and so far have not had any of the above issues. Transfers online are performed instantly, and they have great rates that are more than twice that of Regions for savings accounts.
I would NOT recommend Regions to anyone, unless your looking to use it for a single checking account.
“Unethical Actions Showing Greed & Low Customer Care Values”
Regions overdrew my checking account SIX times in one day because they chose to clear an a charge instead of declining it from a replenishment account I have (FL Toll System). In the past all charges were declined and I was contacted by the vendor for payment. This escalated to unbelievable fees as they would return a charge as 'unpaid' and then let it try clearing a second time, which went returned 'unpaid.' No branch member I called, the Collections Department Staff, or written attempts via E-mail and USPS were of assistance. In addition, my savings account was charged $3, which then overdrew it as I only had change in there. This was due to me not doing a funds transfer during the given month so I take part blame. However, the bank would not listen or consider any negotiation of fees/charges in either situation.
I have been with Regions for over 10-years and I hate to say so strongly that if you bank with Regions, test your trust and faith expectations as they will not budge to work with you in any capacity. It's shameful....
“Worst Service, Rip off Bank”
Just wanted to let everybody know in case you want to deal with Regions Bank, they got the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life, I mean these guys will drive you insane, will rip you off any chance they get, I closed my account a couple months ego, now they sending me monthly fee charges saying that I need to pay it AGAIN, when I paid my fee the first time I closed it. But they couldn’t pull their records together and they didn’t know I closed it so now they are asking that I pay my fees because account wasn’t closed according to them. By now I spent hours on the phone with them and still they haven’t resolved the problem. So I am about to go and curse them out at the bank, so do not be surprised if you see me on the news with a bunch of cops trying to get me out of the bank.
