“Unbelievable Bad...no.....seriously...!!”
Long story short! I read these horrible reviews... Then i opened an account (yes stupid me! ) i thought to myself, no bank can honestly be that bad... Can they? Yes... Oh yes they can.... I'm not one to air "dirty laundry... " but i will tell you this... In two weeks... Two weeks mind you.... They... Yes they managed to mess up my savings and checking.... Charged me two nsf fees.. (which in fairness to them they did refund... ) saying "this is very unusual... Blah blah blah.... " but then... They proceeded to put a "hold" on my account... (which i didn't even know about until i called them) when they put a hold on an account the account holder is welcome to make deposits.. But cant do anything else.. Cant use a debit card.. Cant make a withdrawal... Literally... Nothing.... They say this is done to protect your account... Lol.... Really?.... Seriously? Not to mention.. Messing up two check orders back to back.... Like i said in the beginning.. This is my fault for not trusting the reviews i read..... Take it from me... Do yourself a favor... Believe these reviews... People including me aren't wasting time signing up to post reviews just for the fun of it.... Oh... I almost forgot!!!! Regions charges $25 per account (savings and checking) if you close your account within six months!

“Very Deceptive ”
When we refinanced our mortgage with Regions in Dec 2010 we had a home equity line with BB&T. We had no intention of moving this credit line because we were happy with BB&T and saw no reason to move it. But our loan officer, Mike Newbauer, told us all would be the same and it would cost us nothing to move it to Regions. After 12 months, we had not used the credit line and we received a bill for $100. It turns out they will bill you $100 every 12 months if you don't use the credit line. We have now decided to close the line of credit, and now they want to charge us $500 for early closure. My advice is not to do business with Regions Bank and especially not to business with Mike Newbauer. We told him we did not want to move our line of credit and he deceived us about the fact that nothing would be different between BB&T and Regions. We had our line of credit with BB&T for 8 years, never used it, and were never charged a fee. I have no respect for people like Mike who just want to make a quick buck. He already was getting our refinance business so what reason was there to push for the home equity line when he knew full well and good that it was far from being "equal" with BB&T? We are now headed completely away from Regions, forever. Will never look back and hope never to see Mike Newbauer again!

“They Stole My Identity”
I opened an account at a branch in Franklin, TN and 4 weeks later I started recieving letters demanding payment for pay day loans. The loan groups had my social and this bank's routing number and my bank account. I went in to the branch to file a frau report and they wouldn't take it! They just kept telling me it was my fault and I must have been reckless with my information. After proving i was not reckless they tried to blame in on my sister who's living with me. 6 months later I'm still dealing with the identity theft and now have information showing the pay day loans were signed off by a banking representative AFTER I HAD TRIED TO FILE THE REPORT! Unbelievable.
Stay away from this bank!

“Horrible.”
My husband and I have a joint account for his direct deposit paychecks. He goes to buy something today and he can't run debit because his "pin number is corrupt". Well my husband is at work and I called customer service to try to fix this and apparently I CANNOT do it. He HAS to do it. And it's something called a "pin reminder". Well, I have had nothing but problems with this bank and think it's time for a change. If you can refer me to a good bank, please leave me a message. Thanks.

“Terrible!”
After choosing to opt out of overdraft protection more than once they continued to allow my wife to overdraft on the account. Then of course they would add the fees to each overdraft. If they would have done what I told them to do in the first place, then she would have been denied whatever purchase she was trying to make at the time of purchase. I understand that's how they make money. I don't like banks anyway, but this has been the worst experience I have had with a bank..I would recommend you get away from any of the big banks and go to your local credit union. Heck, you probably would be better off just getting yourself a fireproof safe and doing your own banking.

“Account Holder for over 20 years, but getting tired of fees etc.”
I have been with Regions for, technically, over 20 years. I say technically as Regions bought out my hometown bank years ago. After 17 years at the same branch I moved to another city, within the same state. However, whenever I had an issue to deal with I would have to call my old hometown's branch, as the local branch did not hold my account. Eventually I had to close my account and reopen it at my local branch. Ridiculous if you ask me in this age..
Over the past few years the fees have gone up and up. I am not happy. But after an incident last week I am seriously thinking about changing banks. I wrote my landlady a check for our rent, which I usually pay in cash. Because my landlady does not have an account with Regions bank they charged her $20 to cash the check. So from now on I will have to include that fee in my rent payment.
Thanksgiving my husband cashed out one of his retirement funds. He received a Cashiers Check, so all he should have had to do was deposit it. But... now get this.... Regions Bank held the check for 7 (seven) days before depositing it into our account. Reason, and this is so stupid, since we normally do not make such large deposits they decided that they had to hold it for that long to make sure it was not gained illegally. A cashiers check from a huge national bank, but they had to hold it.
Another incident was our cable company tapping our bank account and several times taking out money without permission. While they admitted their wrong, we could not get Regions to block them from doing so over and over and over again. We proved our case beyond a shadow of a doubt with legal documentation, but Regions refused to do anything. Their recommendation, close account and open new one. Since my husband and I have direct deposit of our income, we would have all kinds of difficulty switching things around etc. Did Regions Bank care? Heck no.
We are looking around for a new bank as I type this. Regions has lost touch with its customers.

“incompetent customer reps in regions rewards program ”
i wanted cash back from my credit card rewards program. however, for some reason they only had an address for me that was 5 years old. after spending about an hour talking with 2 customer reps and getting no where, i asked to speak with a supervisor. i spoke with doug (id #50745 - all customer reps have id numbers and its a good means of tracking your process). after about 20 minutes, he allegedly changed the address to my current one and told me he was sending out a check to me. later in the day i received a confirmation that a check was sent to me....to my 5 year old address. the customer reps are incompetent. don't get a credit card from regions its not worth the aggravation.

“Absolutely Horrible”
Customer service (once you could get someone on the phone) was absolutely absurd. Regions overdrafted me with monthly fees then claimed that a transaction (which i executed in person at a branch) did not happen, therefore they closed my account due to the overdraft and inactivity. I ended up having to cover the overdraft once again to stop collections and they told me "this is not burger king. " never ever again, steer clear from this horrible excuse of a bank!!!!!

“Signed up for the NOW card and got burned!!”
I had an acct with Regions until 2007, when I decided to go to another bank, mostly because I didn't care for their service after they acquired AmSouth. One payday,I took out all my money and asked them to close my account, which they never did. Since they never closed my account, they allowed ACH debits and fees to occur, and they never tried to collect.
On the 28th I decided to sign up for the NOW card, because it doesn't require a checking account. I deposited a total of $261 on it the same day. I only made two purchases with the card that day. The next day I was on my way to work, so I needed to fuel up and get some breakfast. My card was declined twice, so I ended up calling Regions to find out what was the issue. It seems that Collections decided to help themselves to what was left on my card to satisfy the old acct. This prepaid card isn't supposed to be linked to any acct, old or new. I was totally angered that they would do something so deceitful. I can't get to talk to them until after the holiday, and because they took all my money, I won't be able to talk to collections until I am able to put more time on my cell phone. I want my money back and they better give it to me. I plan on cancelling this card so I'm not charged the $5 monthly fee. They call themselves the relationship people, HA! They are severely crooked and NO ONE should sign up to bank with them!!

“HORRIBLE SERVICE ”
I contacted a mortgage lender at Regions Bank. I provided all the information including an appraisal fee of USD379.00. The loan was approved with the condtion that I need to buy an insurance for inside the apartment which was cost me an extra USD78.00 on a monthly basis.
Please explain to me why Regions Bank does not offer a checklist with all the requirements they need before you pay for the appraisal.
Now I lost the USD376.00 plus an additional fee of USD25.00 to close a bank account they requested me to open in order to debit automatically the mortgage payment. Of course when the account was opened they said NO FEE but now that I want to close the account of course there is a fee charged.
It's amazing how difficult Banks make it to refinance! Regions Bank is the worst.
