A Nightmare

Delivery systems are antiquated. Payments posted incorrectly, sensitive bank documents sent to the wrong or incomplete address-twice. Vehicle title mailed out to me to add bank as lienholder, unbeknownst, title never arrived. Bank involved their legal department to get rid of us for "causing problems." In summary, I would not recommend this bank to anyone. Note, we had to cancel all our insurance policies due to the severity and mishandling of our loan and money.

A $10 per month "gotcha fee"

I opened a money market account a few years ago. Towards the end of last year I withdrew most of my funds leaving a balance of about $100. I didnâ??t check my bank statements for 7 months because I figured that nothing could "go wrong" with an account with a small balance. I did look at my account a few weeks ago and saw that state farm had made seven monthly withdrawals for $10 each because of my low monthly balance. I was very upset. These charges are exactly what Elizabeth Warren has called "gotcha fees." They (the banks) screw you, when they can, because they can.

I tried to post a negative review on statefarm.dot com only to get a reply saying, "Hello [Name],

Your opinion is very important to us and the State Farm community. We appreciate you taking the time to write a review on Money Market Savings. Unfortunately your review did not meet our guidelines for posting on our site." In other words you can't post a negative review on their site.

My message to the state farm person that decided that a $10 per month gouging was OK is "Insurance is based on trust, I pay, and then trust that you will honor your side if there is a claim. You confiscated $70 of my money in the money market account as a "gotcha fee" and this netted you a grand total of $70. It should go without saying that I cancelled by bank account with you and last week I transferred ALL of my insurance (auto, home, and umbrella liability @ $1,500 per year) to another insurance company. I havenâ??t had an insurance claim in over ten years.

Very Bad Start! Not To Sure About An Online Bank After This! I Plan To Close The Account As Soon As I Get Access To It!

I logged into my state farm insurance account and opened a checking account. The application process was very easy with most my information being carried over from my insurance account. I opened the account early february by transferring money from my bank of america account, with no issue. They sent me an info packet informing me to verify my address by fax which i did. I log into my new account which seemed setup. Another week goes by and i call asking for the routing and account numbers. The rep stated i needed to again verify the address. I did again by faxing in the information. I asked the rep to contact me via my cell phone or e-mail letting me know everything was good. She never contacted me. The beginning of the next week i contact a rep again asking about the account. She verified it was open and gave me my account information which i used for my direct deposit. I got paid on a friday and checked my account which showed the deposit. I receive another packet in the mail telling me my debit card and checks would arrive in 6-8 days. Another week goes by and i still have nothing. I again call a rep which stated nothing was sent because i didn't request it? Stating i have to request the debit card and checks for a new account? Wtf! Over three weeks and i have no access to my money. She gives me a another number... Another call another rep who stated the complete opposite. Checks and debit card had been sent out automatically. I verified the address which he stated they sent it to a different address? He said they will cancel the card and checks and issue me new ones. They will fed-ex everthing overnight which may take up to three days! (overnight = 3 days. Explain that one) i received both packets in the mail but the card and checks went to a different address? I asked how i can prevent this from happening again which he could not give me an answer. It will be over a month before i can access any of my money unless i drive to bloomington illinois. What a joke!

Horrible nightmare!

We set up our loan last Sept. We made the first payment that day and were told our payment books would arrive before the next payment was due. 6 weeks later we still hadn't received them. So we made a payment online. We called to see when the books would arrive. They had our address wrong. We gave them the right address and waited again. Still no payment books. Long story short...while waiting for payment books, we missed a payment and started getting late fees. After 4 months we finally get the payment books. My husband calls the bank and they waive late fees and assure us he will put the late payment on the back of our loan to bring us up to date. This month we get ANOTHER fee charge telling us we are late. (I wasn't late) They say we still have one payment missing which is the one they said they would put on the "back" of the loan. Now the person I spoke to says he's not allowed to put the payment at the end of the loan! Oh...and the clincher? The latest letter they mailed me with late fees...still doesn't have our correct address!! I will be making an official complaint to the bank and will be refinancing through someone who can get it right the first time.

Never Again Will I Go Through State Farm Bank

My husband and i went to our state farm agent to secure financing through state farm bank on a car for our 22 year old son. We had to co-sign since our son doesn't have credit. We were at the state farm office over 4 hours. The agent appeared to have problems with the computer system. The agent suggested our son open a account with state farm bank and state farm bank would draft his payment out of his checking account that is with another bank put the payment into his account with state farm bank. We agreed because it lowered the interest rate. The first payment was to be taken out on december 29th. It's now feburary and the account still hasn't been set up, we bought the car in november. The agent blames state farm bank. State farm bank blames the agent. They are charging him late fees and paying over the phone. Never again

10 years of a savings account

I initially signed up in 2002 because I had a friend who worked at State Farm and she told me about the great interest rates. I also thought since it's not tied to a checking account, it's less likely that I will use the money or have it stolen. Over the years, as with all banks, the interest rates plummeted, but I did not have use for the money and it was still a little bit better than my other main savings account. For the last four years, I have to sign a notice that I still exist and this is my account. I find it odd because each year they tell me it's because they haven't had any contact with me. I would think if I signed a letter and called, this would be considered contact.

This year, I have use for the money. I call and ask for the money to be transferred. I give an incorrect account number, completely my fault as I do not catch the error when they repeat it back. The funds are not transferred, I call back, they say the money was returned, so I ask for a check and they say let's do the transfer again since we know the issue. I agree, but this time, they take the amount of my State Farm balance out of my external bank. When I call, they say they only see the first transfer occur and that it was requested that they re-open the account. They only see notes concerning the original failed transfer. State Farm has essentially stolen my money and I need to call THEM to get it back on Monday. Since I am quite busy at work, there is a good possibility that I will not be able to resolve this on Monday. I really was neutral if not positive about the bank. Their website had gotten better and I never had any issues, but I had no real transactions. My current bank is not one I chose, rather it purchased one of my former banks, so I have no true allegiance. I do know that if I decide I need a new bank, State Farm is not in the running.

Did not even set up properly.

They could not even set the account up properly. I tried to do it on-line and after the account was supposedly set up the site ran into a glitch which (excessively) long story short meant I had to go to a local agent to get them to verify my identity so I could be asked to provide security question answers in public (the agents office with customers listening). Initially they also wanted me to speak my full SSN but I was able to convince them how insecure that was and got by with last 4 digits and address verification. Needless to say if they can not even set up a simple checking account correctly from the beginning, I am most certainly not going to trust them with my money, so I had them cancel the account immediately. This encounter has totally turned me off State Farm and I will not recommend them to anyone.

Great Experience for a Remote Bank

I really have had a great experience with SFB. Getting started is a little quirky since you have to deal with your local agent, but I did most of that via e-mail and fax anyway. I think that actually helps keep it small enough to manage everyone well. If it grew too fast that might change its character.

Customer service has been amazing--I usually use the on-line webform. I hate that you have to speak your information into the phone when calling teh automated service--even if you are in the middle of a crowd. I find that highly unsecure and have asked them to enable touch-tone entry (haven't checked recently so they may have fixed that). Due to some slow transfers and mis-timing (on my part), I have had a few NSF fees; however, if you are in good standing, you can request up to three "courtesy" rebates every 12 months (so I have never had to actually pay that).

I LOVE the ATM fee rebate--but I still try to go to the cheapest ATMs so as to not reward the "vampires." I used my card in Mainland China and got a much better rate than from the currency exchanges and also (again) paid NO fees. (No foreign transaction fees either.)

Their on-line scan-to-deposit site is great--I scan checks I receive and have them in my account within one business day (if over $500, they hold the excess another business day). I believe they still offer a service where--if you are depositing at least $100--you can print out a free, pre-paid FedEx label and overnight it to them. I haven't used this since the introduction of the electronic method I already mentioned.

I have no complaints. I was nervous making a remote bank my primary checking account, but I cannot imagine doing it any other way now.

until 2012 i had a great experience w/state farm bank. now i am comtemplating leaving due to programming incompetence.

i used to be able to seamlessly pay my insurance premiums and cash on state farm dollars online with zero problems. now, every transaction opens in a separate window which goes blank when you fill in the info. also, my state farm dollars "disappear" when i try to apply them toward my premiums but there is no indication of them being applied to anything. now, i cannot access the server due to "technical difficulties". obviously a new programmer was hired this year and in an attempt to make a name for themselves have totally screwed up the online system. I beg you state farm, please go back to the system you had in place before 2012, it was great, now i may be canceling my credit cards with you due to this programming incompetence!!!!!!!!!!!

Best Online Banking Experience!!! Simple And Easy

I have had many other banks in my years and can say hands down that state farm bank online is one of the easiest and most self explanatory sites out there. I use my mobile deposit every week to deposit checks directly into my account and never have had an issue. I also love that my atm fees are reimbursed!!!

My kind of bank- can do anything from transfer funds to a friend, pay bills, remote check deposit- all from my phone!

I have been mroe than satisfied with my banking experience with State Farm Bank. Their online and mobile capabilities are innovative and make banking simple for me which is what I need. I get unlimited ATM reimbursements which is awesome, whereas my friends will go out of their way to find their bank's ATM to avoid ATM fees. Oh, and I don't have to keep a minimum balance either! State Farm Bank's free checking accounts truly are hassle-free, fee-free, and gimmick-free! Can you tell I love State Farm Bank?
