“This is the branch you want to bank at. It excels above the rest.”
I've been banking at the Glades Road branch in Boca Raton ever since Glades Road was virtually a dirt road back in 1979. I've remained keeping my money and investing there since I've never once been denied the efforts it took to bring any issues I may have had to a successful resolution. Two employees stand out in my mind as going far beyond the call of duty to risk criticism in order to just empathetically help me out. And not just as a business customer, but as a fellow human being. Glo Fanshaw (Miller) and Debbie Sadlacek have been working at this branch for as long as I can remember. I can be a little overbearing at times, but never once has my intemperance ruffled their feathers. With calm dignity, many a time have each of them gone the extra mile to successfully conclude my issues, always in my favor.
I know it sounds corny or even exaggerated, but it's true. I don't know about other branches, but this one's exemplary. Unfortunately I had some problems beyond the purvey of the local bank that I had to resolve on my own, but I was successful in resolving those issues of my own accord, so I'm well pleased with SunTrust's overall reliability to protect my money in a world of identity theft and fraudulent company charges and services. But I have to say, this branch in particular has provided me with the "extra mile" I haven't experienced with any other banks. After all, it must be true for Glo and Debbie to have remained working there for so long.

“Really?! Just... really?”
I was excited to open a Suntrust account, because I'm unemployed and very low on cash so their EZ Checking account was a great option - no fees. I opened the account without a problem. Through an unfortunate event, I got a bad check, which I tried to deposit. It bounced. A hold was placed (initially on just the check funds, then the whole account). Someone keyed it in wrong, so it was like they were trying to take out the check twice to clear it up, leaving me a large negative balance. Finally that was straightened out. A day or two later, I go to use my card - the hold is back on my account, and they are closing my account without warning... even though the day they made the decision to close it, I talked to 2 separate people from the bank who looked at my account and didn't mention anything about that. They were even talking about crediting back a fee that they took out. Even when I spoke to someone on Saturday, she just said I had a hold, but did not say why.
"Bank policy" or not, what happened to communicating with the customer or the customer coming first?

“Worst Bank EVER!!! Poor customer service, you are not a valued customer”
They allow the same transactions to repeatedly be charged to your account and refuse to do anything about it. They put the blame on the company who charged it but they allow it to go through. Must be a thing in the south, because up north I NEVER had this problem. Do not Bank with SUN BUST!!!!

“I will never bank here again! ”
All around not a very good bank. It's not very convenient, I live in Newnan,GA which is huge! There is not one Suntrust in Coweta county but you go to the next county and there's 3 within 8 mile radious of each other. You guys don't offer a temporary card so I had to wait 9 days to withdraw from our account, not to mention my husband whom works out of town can't even withdraw money because GA requires a paper ID until you receive your new one. ALL Suntrust employees should be trained to know its the same thing Ga or not. I can't help GA chose a ridiculous process! Your Saturday hours are horrible at least make all the hours the same there's a HUGE difference in hours at each location. You guys charge a $12 fee if you do not use your debit card, yes it's a small fee but it adds up!! Also, you can't access the online banking app early in the morning ugh get it together! Last but not least.. You ask why I chose to bank here? Well my husbands company requires it, so there's one good thing I will unfortunately be a customer.

“Will never use again”
I had an auto pay from my Suntrust checking to my Suntrust loan- at my credit union if the money isn't there the due date it will just keep pulling until it's there. Thinking a bank worked the same was I was charged a fee on the checking and the loan. Suntrust did refund one fee but the fees are inhouse and refused to refund the second which was all from the same transaction. Closed my accounts and will refi my auto loan anywhere else. Looking for a new car and mortgage and definitely will not consider Suntrust ever again over $25.

“Nightmare, we have gotten to the day before closing 3 times only to find that the Bank has not done their job. ”
This bank put a peace of property on the market without having the title clear. Then did not know enough to get it straightened out in a timely fashion. We should be closing today, for the third time. They still have not gotten their act together. We have invested too much time and energy to not sign yet another 2 week extension. My husband is a 90 percent disabled veteran and I am having to take him to see the doctor today because of the undo stress this has caused him.

“Convenient if you have no issues because their customer service sucks ”
My wife and I opened a account here recently. I just started a company and thought I would use this account temporarily until I incorporate the business. I am a electrical contractor so getting paid is a pain at times and when I do I need the funds to start the next job to buy materials. I recently deposited two sizable checks and they decided to put a 7 day hold on both of them really a 8 day because on the 7th day they tell you that the funds will be released at 11:59 pm but only after waiting on hold for an hour because they say they are checking to see if they can get the funds released now after getting sick of waiting hanging up and calling back to be told I have no idea why you where put on hold nothing we can do. Oh and don't forget the time going to the branch you deposited the checks at to be told that you have to go to the branch you opened the account at to be told there that they have no idea why the other branch sent you to them there was nothing they could do. So in short if you want a bank that will bring your business to a grinding halt while wasting your time by strait out lying to you or being completely incompetent (take your choice) start a account with Suntrust. Oh and thanks for putting a 8 day hold on my checks (one of the checks was from a family member) what is that anyways, its like they decided that they just will not give me access to the funds because, not we have to check to see if the funds are available its we will not give you access for 8 days because we say so. Thanks Suntrust

“Lots of locations and services for business. Poor Service”
They have lots of locations and branches so that is a bonus. However, service outside the local branch I have is horrible. They keep doing internal cutbacks and service keeps getting worse. They also have the worst rates I have seen. I am only with them due to some services they offer. If I ever find a bank with same services and actually cares about its customers I will be switching.

“Bad loan experience”
We have very good credit rating and debt/income ratio < 30%. However Suntrust loan experience was a hassle. First of all the loan officer at the local office has no communication with the underwriter. The underwriter would call us or mail us directly instead of talking to the loan officer. So the loan officer is out of the loop. So parts of the loan business such as submitting forms was at the local office, but some of it was done through the underwriter. Then the loan officer and the underwriter would contradict each other when we had questions. It took 2 weeks to hear back about the approval details, with confusion abounding as the local officer and the underwriter told us different things and we had to be the "middle man", calling both and giving them the information to each other that they should have been sharing. Although the local officer was pleasant the underwriters are rude and short with us. This is SUCH a BAD process. Be like other banks, 1 POC to the customer - the loan officer! Don't make the customer chase everyone down to get everyone on the same page. Also they would not accept my self-employed husband's 1099 unless he had worked for 3 years! Finally we got a high interest rate with 1/2 the amount approved that we wanted. And we have a car loan and multiple accounts with this bank and in good standing! Disgusted, we turned to our credit union, who approved twice as much with less interest in A FEW HOURS time. Not to mention all but 1 of the employees at our branch have left so there is a high turnover. Suntrust get your act together!!

“Been with them for 30 years, alway a good experience”
I understand the negative comments, I have friends who have had "accounting challenges" over the years with their accounts with SunTrust and It is my opinion SunTrust has little patience with what I would call amateur bankers. If you keep money in your accounts they are a wonderful place to bank.
