Wanted to open a bank close to me and my husband, and I tried to make it easy on my husband so he wont have to go in, and did almost everything, and called Megan that was suppose to contact me on a Friday, she didnt even call me and I had to keep trying to call here. Anyway, I was on my way to just sign the signature card, and then she ask how much I was going to be depositing, I informed her and that I work for a small insurance company, and do not have direct deposit, and she said that there would be a 3 to 7 day hold on the money every time for 30 days, I was glad I ask, she just kept arguing with me, and I informed her to just hold off do not do anymore, she was so rude and said it is going to be that way anywhere you go, so remember that. I said ok, never mind. And she called back in 10 minutes very cocky and said I just finishing running your husband, and he cant get an account anyway, I said why, he has 2 accounts. She wont tell me, I said to her I told you to hold off, so she had no right at that point to do any thing further. This was in Overland Park, KS. She just kept saying I am not going to get fired over this, and then said she would do it. Crazy you know what, so I didnt make the mistake. Thank goodness.

More than once Umb Mortgages "forget" to send a statement
hoping i would forget to make a payment just to zap a big
fee the next month. beware!!!!!!

“Absolutely Horrible!!!!!!!!!!!”
They are nothing but crooks! I am too upset right now to go into detail what this bank has put me through!
My advice to anyone thinking about opening an account with them...BEWARE!!
They will screw you with outragous fees whenever they get the chance and don't even think about asking for a car loan even if your credit is good.

“horrible”
I live in Texas but have an account I set up in college - 15 years ago. I am closing on a house this week. UMB is forcing me to come to a local branch in order to withdrawal the money for closing. This is despite me living 8 hours away. Today I will start my journey to secure MY money. This is ridiculous customer service in a world where everything is done without being in person.

“Want to feel like a criminal? Bank w/ UMB.”
Both my husband and I have bank w/ them for about 15 yrs. They have the worst customer service, they charge crazy fees and they blame everything on the customer. Here is a list of some of the awful things they've done. I went to school w/ girl who had the same first and last name as me only her first name had one letter that was different. UMB deposited a $15K insurance check I deposited through a teller to the other girls account. They had me going through the run around saying that the check hadn't come in yet or that the insurance company was to blame. A) I deposited the check myself so the insurance company wasn't involved in that and B) they told me I was lying when I showed hem the deposit slip. To my husband they have continued to raise fees because his employer only writes a paper check. And even though he's been working for the same company for 6 yrs they still put a 5 day hold on his deposits from the employers paper check because they said they need to verify the funds. The tellers blame everything on bank policy and make the consumer feel like a criminal.

“Not worth it, stingy as can be.”
Husband has been pre-approved for all sorts of loans including a home loan ((that he didn't take out)), has 'good' credit, never over-drafts, and has been banking with UMB for 4 years now, only to be turned down for a simple and small car loan. We will be changing banks in the very near future and never looking back. These are the only people who have ever denied us for any sort of credit, it leaves me feeling like we don't do well enough to get a loan, but I know that there are plenty of banks that would jump for the offer to take our hard earned & always on time money. Unless you're in your 30's with lots of established credit and an 800 score, don't bother. Their online banking is a joke too, and they have "lost" our deposits twice now and tried to charge us large amounts of money for it. When we told them we had put money in they will tell you it doesn't matter unless you have proof even though 23482384 other people had the same problem that day. Luckily we saved our receipt from the transaction. They're a complete joke.

“Worst Bank Service Ever!!!!!”
I got this bank account back when i was like 15 years old! I have been with them for a very long time due this is where my parents banked. The customer service is horrible, the rates are horrible, the service when you go into the bank is horrible. Everything is horrible. They just steal your money. I will never go back!

“HORRIFFIC!!!!!!!”
U.M.B Bank is by far the absolute WORST bank in America! Whatever you do, do not bank with them. You will forever regret it for the rest of your life like me!! They have the worst customer service and the worst policies that make you think your safe but your not. Take it from someone who has banked with them for 6 years. Shame on me for letting them screw me for soo long! Just in a single month, I was charged over 900 worth of overdraft fees. I take full responsibility for the charges I pushed through that were in fact negative. But they choose to subtract funds out of my account when THEY want to and not in the order that you charge them. So at the end of a day if I have 4 charges going through my account (3 of them were physically charged 4 days ago and just now posted) they will subtract the highest charge first even though the highest amount was charged AFTER the smaller charges. Thus causing me 4 overdrafts instead of just ONE. This has happened on more than 20 different occasions. They even tell you that their online banking is inaccurate. They never call you back when they say they will and none of the reps at the rosana square know anything about what they are talking about. One rep will tell you one thing and another will tell you something completely different. They are all a bunch of jokes. I would have given them 0s if I could. Account CLOSED and good riddance!

“Rejected a loan 3 months after the fact after 40-50 hours of invested time based on day 1 info.”
UMB BANK TOPEKA KANSAS:
Whatever you do avoid this bank. They are incompetent to say the least. We are going to be complaining to the state banking commission. They gave us the run around for 3 months on our loan. Refusing to give us much information and then rejecting us based on something they were provided on day 1 by our lawyer. They want our case to go through probate which isn't legally required or possible because of the way the will was setup. They have asked our lawyer about probate and they were told that wasn't going to happen. DO NOT USE THEM.

“It Is Horrible, They Steal Your Money.”
The worst bank ever to exisit. They trick you sign you up for things and dont tell you. Then they steal your money and do not give it back. Customer service laughs at you and gives you the run around and says oh sorry i cant help you.... Do not trust this compnay horrible horrible. Online banking is never up to date so you will always have a charge from somewhere. Please do not go to this bank. They just stole 150 from in over draft fees that i had money in my account. Signed me up for over draft protection which i didnt sign up for and then took all my money. They wont give it back even thou i had over the amount in my account for everything i spent terrible terrible the online help jason p just repeats things like a computer and says sorry i cant help you? Your in customer service what do you mean you cant help me. Switching my bank immed. They have nickled and dimed me for over 4 years now this put me over the edge i am done with umb bank.
