“Awful! Expensive!”
US Bank staff never clearly explain penalties and consequences from certain things done on the account of the customer by the customer. How are we supposed to know the repercussions if they're not explained to us?! Also the fees are ridiculous and the online banking site is not as it seems. While you may think you have an positive available balance, it actually might be negative. Just another thing that US Bank hides and complicates so that they can get money out of you! The whole time I was thinking I had my bank account positive so that I would not get a negative balance fee, I was apparently wrong and incurred that fee plus two $15 fees. Run far, far away from this bank...

“Bad Lending Experience”
I applied for a 20% down owner occupant loan. A hyper-sensitive in-house appraiser with his "cover yourself" mentality truly tanked this deal.
I am well aware of the three "C"s of lending - however they forgot the fourth, "Common Sense".
US Bank is not the bank to finance or refinance your home loan...

“Horrible”
We refinanced our house 60 days ago and signed a paper stating that if you pay more than 20% of the principle in the first 12 months you have a 2% pre payment penalty. Fast forward 2 months we get relocated for work and I called to see if we could negotiate or waive if we get a US Bank loan on our new and more expensive house and the answer was no and no! I understand everyone refi's like changing underwear, I do not and I am not talking about a 100k loan. The loan is 630,000 so US Bank will collect 12,600 as a pre payment penalty for NOTHING! They could have collected that in the first 3 month interest on my new loan. I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM AS LONG AS I LIVE!!!!!

“Worst Bank ever!”
Customer Service people are rude and not friendly!!! Have Taken over $600 in overdraft charges from me in the last 6 months! and most of them were not my fault! and today was the last straw! The representative hung up on me after saying he couldn't refund $175 dollars worth of overdraft charges that was their fault to begin with! Shittiest bank ever! I will never recommend them to anyone and as soon as I cover the overdraft charge I will be closing my account!

“The worst I have encountered in 40 years”
I refuse to spend another minute on this bank. Suffice it to say, the customer service is abysmal - they don't care. The procedure for loans is antiquated - they don't care. They have more money than business sense - they don't care. They will tie you up for months on a loan, sucking you dry for every fee they can and then will not give you the loan - they don't care. Trust me and the other reviewers - don't even start with USBank. ANY bank would be better. I wish I could go before Congress and tell my USBank story. Greed, greed, greed and no financial basis for decisions. If every member of the USBank board read all the poor reviews on the internet about their bank - guess what - they wouldn't care. It's their culture.

“Don't waste your time and energy with this bank!”
I wish I had run into this website before I opened an account with this horrific bank. From very first day, US Bank made errors in my accounts. The process of correcting the errors were extremely painful due to the consistency of level quality and unprofessional service handled by the most incompetent workers the industry has to offer. Not only they were incompetent, they were rude, clueless, and good only going around the circle. Contacting the headquarters in MN would only bring your blood pressure up because you'd be dealing with a bunch of human robots whose incompetence is far worse than a broken vending machine!
In short, do yourself and your friends a favor: DO NOT even step into a US Bank. It's not worth it!

“Unprofessional Call Center Rep hung up on me for no reason”
I have a US Bank credit card. Since I have a vacation planned, I set down to call all of my credit cards to put a travel tag on my account so they'd know I planned to use my cards abroad. I did all four of my cards in a row, which really gave me a chance to compare customer service. I called my US Bank card last, and it was DEFINATELY the least when it came to customer service.
The rep asked for my travel dates and then told me, "Just call 1-800-VISA911 if anything happens to your card while you're abroad." I nicely asked what the number is to use abroad. He said, "Just use that same number." I nicely said, "US 1-800 numbers don't work in Mexico. " He then answered, "Yes they do, just dial the United States and then dial the number." I nicely said, "Actually, that doesn't work. I used to live in Mexico and I travel there on a regular basis. You cannot dial US toll-free numbers from Mexico. Don't you have a regular toll number I could call?" And he said, "Well then, I guess I don't know." He was not at all apologetic for not knowing, nor did he offer to find out what the toll number would be. I was quite taken aback at his really non-helpful tone, especially since I hadn't even been slightly irate at all and was simply trying to get all the information I needed. I then said, "Well, maybe you should find out what that number is in case someone else asks." At that point he hung up on me.

“US bank seems to exist to bilk customers with ridiculous fees”
US Bank charged me $80+ in fees (not only $50 in overdrafts, but 25 "late fee", 10 "maintenance") for an overdraft of all of $30. Even though they have my email (and often spam me), they purposely only inform customers of this VERY late via mail to accumulate the charges. They refused to remove any of the ridiculous fees despite the fact I've often had $10k+ in my account over a course of over 10 years, and this is the first time I've overdrafted. From the other reviews above, bleeding their customers seem standard operating procedure.
Banking and all things financial are based upon trust. Their behavior shows they place zero value in their customers, and thus I see no reason to place any value in their services.

“Horrible service, unprofessinal, need training or new employess immidately. I will close my account today!”
I have been a customer of US Bank since 2010 and went in to this branch (which is where I originally opened my account) and the teller was not able to cash my check since her so called "branch manager" didn't recognize me. I was and still am outraged! I have been a customer going on three years now, I always cash my check at that location and I was now unable to because she didn't "recognize" me. I was unaware that that branch manager and that branch manager alone was there 24/7 to recognize each and every customer that walks in. It did not matter that I had my social security card, two forms of ID (including my California ID), my check book or the fact that I had just cashed my check there two weeks prior. I was not aware that one individual was able to change the policies and procedures to a business. The manager who is in desperate need of training then tried to hand me back my check which had already been endorsed (signed on the back) and said I could go to another bank if I wished. I looked at the manager in astonishment. What bank will cash a check that has been already endorsed? I asked her. She said any! I was appalled that someone with so little knowledge of banks was able to be a branch manager. Because of the unprofessional ism of the branch manager there by the name of Misha I will be closing my account today! I will also NEVER refer any business to this bank. Please train your employees. Customer's shouldn't know more about the bank procedures then its own employees!

“Inexplicably slow mortgage origination ”
First we were waiting for appraiser to process documents for a while, then approval department could not complete paperwork.
Our mortgage officer gave us a clue that US Bank has more mortgage applications than they can process.
40 days since application, still do not know when we will close.
Save your time, and sanity - avoid US Bank.

“Too Many Fees.”
I moved to ohio so i switched to us bank only because there is no bank of america in ohio (which is where i banked before). They charge so many fees. Charged me $40 once because of an overdraft when i had the money in my savings account. As soon as i realized i took too much money out, i immediately (within 2 minutes) moved money from my savings to checking. I come back later that night to check my account and all of a sudden all of my savings account money is in my checking account and once i got my paycheck deposited the next day, they charged me $40 for over draft protection. Wtf.
