“Compass Bank will rip you off.”
I'm yet another person who had free checking and savings accounts with Compass Bank. Even though I have signed paperwork stating these were no fee accounts, Compass Bank changed the accounts' status without notification and drained the checking account of every dime and made a good dent in the savings account. They refused reveiw the charges and also refused to provide me with copies of the paperwork I had to sign to close the accounts.
From my experience as well as reading other postings this is commonplace at Compass Bank.
Look elsewhere for your banking needs if you want to hang onto your money.
“Hopefully the interest rate will make it worth it”
Switched my savings from BoA to Capital One to get the higher interest rate, but the costumer service has been disappointing. I was approved over the phone and told my account info would be sent to my local branch and I could go there to make the first deposit.
When I got to the branch the banker said I didn't have the required documents. He asked if the phone rep told me what to bring and when I said no, she'd just given me a confirmation number and said everything would be ready, he replied "Yeah. Sorry."
So now I get to go back.
Good interest on simple savings; poor use of time.
“Stay Away From Associated Bank”
Associated Bank has a way to double debit fees on single overdrafts. I had $60 in overdraft and in two days had $200 in fees...unbelievable. When I asked for a reconciled account ledger, they said they are not legally required to give me one. No customer service and client's beware of hidden fees never disclosed.
“Is Chase a bank in a panic? Cut credit limit then notify you later?”
I have been a Chase customer for years and had a huge credit limit I never could get close to needing (not quite $35,000). I have a second card issued to my uncle, who had my permission to use it to pay for a car repair.
I recieved a phone call saying my card had been rejected. I couldn't believe it, but paid with Discover on the phone and went home. I'd received my statement around a week ago and everything looked fine. I go online and find they have slahsed my credit limit so I now have less than $50 credit with their bank. Notification came in the mail only today.
They've destroyed my credit score I am sure. They are losing me as a customer. Be wary of this bank, they seem to be making odd decisions right now.
“When $500.00 deposit equals a deficit of $70.00!!!!”
TD bank plagues its' customers with unfair overdraft fee policies. I recently deposited a check for $500.00, from a local bank, into my checking account. I realize I may have been running a bit short this month. A check, I issued was presented on the same day as my deposit so I accepted that overdraft fee. What I can't accept is the $140.00 overdraft fees charged to my account for subsequent ATM withdrawals on the remaining available balance. Customer service informed me this ocurred because TD only permits $100.00 of the deposit availability and the check and that fee required that. Due to that, despite the fact I had ample remaining balance to cover the ATM withdrawal and debit purchases, they continued to charge for each as if were an overdraft. The sin is that those ATM withdrawals were not more than $15.00 and I am paying them $35.00 for each of them. I can't understand how I could access any of my money if it were not available. My online statement reflects the deposit credited to my account, the check being paid and the debit transactions on the day of the deposit. The overdraft fees are listed the next day not even with the individual transactions. They make banking an absolute misery. I am so sorry I switched to TD from my other bank. They get by on these insane technicalities and are unwilling to refund any of the fees.
“Help Save Our Bank From First Citizens and Merchants and Farmers Bank.”
PLEASE!!!! if you feel that the Merchants and Farmers bank placed you into a Construction loan telling you that you have a mortgage company to take your loan after the construction is over in 6months then at or before 6months you were finished and then after 1 to maybe 3weeks you get a call telling you that they no longer have a mortgage company to take your loan and it will take some time to fix this. Then after they take a anywhere between a few months to a few years to fix this problem and the whole time they are charging you interest daily witch for us they are up to costing us an extra $5000.00 so far but I have talked to a couple that they lost just over 10,000.00 with the bank and there bad Construction loan practices. Contact them NOW before their meeting so they can see that it’s not just us. I relay don’t want to lose my home and property to this new bank! We done everything that Sherry A. with Merchants and Farmers told us to do, It took 3 year just for us to get everything right for Sherri so they would give us a Construction load and it took them less than a year to ruin everything!!!!

“I've had issues”
I am an attorney writing in complete disgust as to the way my client was treated at this bank. In order to prove her case, my client requires her bank statements from 2007-08. She needs them by February 17, 2010. My client went into the branch in December 2009 to request them. She did not have her old account number with her, but gave her social security number and name. After weeks of following up, she returned again on February 4, only to be informed that they could not locate the account without her account number. If she had known that in the first place, she would have immediately returned with her account number. Regardless, she proceeded to provide them with her account number on that day. She was told that it would take another three weeks. She then put me on the phone in order to notify them that this was unacceptable, that she needed the statements by February 17, 2010. I notified them of the dire consequences to my client if she did obtain the statements by that date. They were unsympathetic and stated there was nothing they could do. I suggested that she ask them to at least write a letter confirming the existence of the account in 2007-08, which branch managers do all the time. Without explanation, they refused and stated that the same people who would take three weeks to research her old statements would take three weeks to write the letter. They suggested to her that she call customer service. She asked them to call customer service, since they are supposedly there to serve her, and they refused. They then threatened to remove her from the premises because she was taking up too much time and they were unable to assist the other customers--not because she was unruly or belligerent (which she was not), but because she was taking too much of their time! I find this the most appalling of bad customer service stories that I have ever heard. Not only did the branch refuse to write a letter confirming existence of an account, which they do all the time, but they then threatened to remove a customer from t
“I've had issues”
with the same as the poster at the top they manipulate when then transactions come out and then slam you with 35.00 fees, then on top of that I found out that a notible company took out 293.00 plus another 15.00 ("bank fee") out of my account and some man with a thick indian accent tells me that its because of a monthly service fee? Since when. Man I leaving this joke of a bank they are rip offs and the US Treasury should know about this bank.
“Absolute WORST place to have a checking account”
They will find a way to cheat you no matter what . FEES FEES FEES ! I am on a fixed income and frequently get within $20. or $30. when banking (bad move I know) and they "get me" every chance they can . EXAMPLE*** I get my Social Security Check deposited on the 3rd. Wednesday of the month . (after midnight Tuesday). I put my bills into the mailbox Monday afternoon. At the time I had plenty of money in my acct. , Tuesday I went to grocery , etc. (instantly deducted) still OK . Wednesday (according to them ) I had bounced 4 charges . Three of these were done by me on Tuesday using my bank card ( remember I still had PLENTY of money to cover these in my account with money left over ) . WHAT HAPPENED you ask ? One of the checks I sent out Monday had MAGICALY came in before midnight on Tuesday ! Have you or anyone you know ever sent a check out of state and had it clear within 24 hours ? I found out about it a few days ond 4 overdraft fees later . Remember they take the highest amt. first . The first 3 charges that were free and paid for were now overdrafts . HERE'S THE CLINCHER ...... After calling the bank , they said they do this as a FAVOR to their customers . Here's another ; I bought school candy from my grand kids at $ 16. each ( two checks for 16 dollars each ) they were paid to school office . One processed in a couple of days . The other was HELD till an appropriate time ( 30 days ) so it could be used to get a fee when my balance got below 16 dollars , a month after it was written . I could go on and on . This bank has issues that the FEDS need to look into !
“scammed what little money I had with fine lines and fine lies”
I am sure this review is like any other complaint about how they stuck me with unjustifiable fees and there was no way that I could ever give me my money back. Do not use this bank period. They let me know why having my accounts at a credit union was such a good idea.o my only advise is to go credit in the union direction with your bqanking needs.
