“No hassle is a lie!”
I have had nothing but dissappointing issues with capital one bank. My first issue was with a credit card payment I made via ATM a few months ago. They lost my payment and then charged me overdraft and late charges. I called there customer service department, which is in India or something and the phone operators do absolutely nothing except miss direct you until the point you get so fed up with the ordeal that you just give up. I then went to the branch where I made the payment and it took over a week and I had to make the payment again, miraculousely the origional payment was found and charged which caused my bank account to go over draft and I got charged more fees. To their credit they did eventually clear most of that fiasko up. Then a week later I made a paycheck deposit. I go to use my debit card for lunch and it is declined. Their policy had always been that at least $100 would be available the same day, but they changed it suddenly with out warning. I called customer service and they gave me the runaround for about an hour. After much yelling and cursing at some poor phone operator for most of that phone call I eventually got my money and was able to eat. Now I am having more problems with my credit card. I have recently made a payment and they are still trying to tell my my account is past due.
Bottom line is that capital one has a very flawed Bureaucracy that allows many things to slip through the cracks and once they do it is very hard to recover them. To the banks credit, after a some persuasion they are pretty good a fixing their mistakes. I however am tired of so many mistakes being made and I am closing my accounts with them. I would not recommend Capital one to anyone.
“Hopefully the interest rate will make it worth it”
Switched my savings from BoA to Capital One to get the higher interest rate, but the costumer service has been disappointing. I was approved over the phone and told my account info would be sent to my local branch and I could go there to make the first deposit.
When I got to the branch the banker said I didn't have the required documents. He asked if the phone rep told me what to bring and when I said no, she'd just given me a confirmation number and said everything would be ready, he replied "Yeah. Sorry."
So now I get to go back.
Good interest on simple savings; poor use of time.
“Wow! What a great bank!”
Great bank! Easy to set up an account with and to link other accounts to. The savings rate is great, better than ING
