“Went to Bat for me against TD Bank”

When a loan from TD Bank was sent to the credit rating agency because TD Bank claimed I had not made a payment in time. I had used Charles Schwab Bill pay to make the payment. When the dispute came up Charles Schwab was able to prove that the check was in the hands of TD Bank 3 days before they cashed it (also 3 days before it was late). Charles Schwab handled the whole thing and made sure I was updated on the status of the claim. They were able to get my credit rating restored and and apology letter from TD Bank. I now use Charles Schwab Bill Pay to make all my payments since I know they will go the extra mile to help. Plus they always call me to wish me a Happy Birthday!

“Never get a mortgage from Schwab”

My wife and I tried to set up a mortgage on our property through Schwab late last year. We went through the entire process only to have them at the last minute tell us they had erred and could not get the mortgage underwritten. They therefore offered a HELOC at a reasonable rate, which, after going through all of the paperwork, appraisals etc., we agreed to do simply for the ease. However, no further offers of anything other than a half hearted apology were forthcoming.

Once the HELOC was in place, the communication and setting up of the direct deposit payments was an issue. I followed up with Schwab with all of this and they said they could compensate by negotiating the rate of a fixed term motgage after a period of 6 months. We followed up on this recently and the rate offered was uncompetitive and I have ended up fixing a 15 year fixed rate mortgage with my local credit union at a great rate. This CU transaction has been smooth, fast and extremely professional. Even now, as I want to stop my direct debit to Schwab now that the payoff is agreed, Schwab are putting up unreasonable arguments. Bottom line is if you are looking for a mortgage with a good rate and with professional, efficient service, do not look to Charles Schwab. I have mortgaged four properties and this by far has been my worst experience.

I pass up local banks for Schwab checking and savings. It is an excellent online bank. support is awesome. Instant Pos deduction for debit transactions 7 days a week. Free checks , no minumin balance, free mailers to mail deposits,free deposit slips.Manage all this online. The best for last: Am atm transaction at any place in US paid by Schwab. It is paid last day of month in your account.

“Amazing service, no fees, high interest yeild”

I'm a college student that was interested in establishing a Charles Schwab combination brokerage/checking account called "Schwab One with Investor Checking." The process required me to fill out a simple online form with no setup fees and no minimum balance. Account setup was fast and painless. The service is unparalleled. They offer knowledgeable 24 hour support for both the checking and brokerage accounts with little or no wait time. Every time I have called their representatives are friendly and professional.

The only complexity that I encountered was making deposits. They only have one bank branch and it is in Nevada, not very convenient since I live in the southeast. I recommend having another bank account with a larger deposit base so you can easily transfer funds directly online from one bank to the other. Other than depositing issues, the bank is top notch.
