I have issues

My wife and I have been customers with ING direct for nearly 10 years. I applied for the orange mortgage last month with relative ease. After receiving full approval to proceed with all credit checks and background checks, they came back and changed their minds and then charged me $350 for participating in their scam. Although it appears many of the larger thrifts in this nation have found various ways to exploit their customers with new revenue generating schemes, ING direct has found a very powerful way to get customers, initial approval of a loan, then dis-approval and then the $350 fee for declining the loan. All of my accounts are now closed and I am moving all $ to the credit union.

I've had many issues

INGDIRECT saving and checking account are OK, but their easy orange mortgage is terrible. First of all, when I applied mortgage, the customer service gave me the wrong information. They said that when I relock my rate, the clock does not restart which means that no matter how many times I relock my rate, the prepayment penalty only applies to the 1st year from the initial refinance. But when I signed the paper work, I saw that I still need to stay with ING for another year to avoid the prepayment penalty. Then I called customer service, basically they said that I could get out of my loan now but I still had to pay $300. I went ahead sign the loan because I thought relocking the rate for $700 is still attractive which they advertise it. Then now I am ready to relock, they told me its two month mortgage or $2500 just to relock the rate. I will never use ING mortgage.

I have to fuckin wait. i have to wait 60 days for them to release my funds. The security representative they had was a so very arrogant bitch. I will never bank with them again nor will i recommend them to everybody i know. STAY AWAY FROM ING DIRECT AT ALL COSTS. Stay away from ING Bank at all cost

Up until today in the four months I'd been with ING I thought it was a pretty cool bank what with their cool on line banking but I always thought they overdid things a little with security-it's as if every little thing you do, they call or email you to see if you intended to do it. I put up with it as I didn't think it was that big a deal. But then today it was as if Dr. Jeckyl took that final all important dose of whatever he took and completed the final step in the process of becoming a monster. Wait till you hear this...I get a call from their security people asking me all kinds of questions about why I've link up some of my bank accounts to one another. But it's not like I'm up to no good cause I'm just transfering really small amounts. So with no notice these b.....ds close my account and now I even can't even access my own money. Then these jerks tell me I have to wait 30 to 60 days to get my 250 dollars. Unbelievable! It's like a nightmare. And you wouldn't believe the arrogance of the woman in security when she calls me asking me all these questions about what I'm up to, as if I'm masterminding some great money laundering scheme or something. If you saw the piddling amounts I transfer you woldn't believe it. The bottom line is these ah---s in security at ING are just trying to impress their bosses in showing them how perceptive they were in "catching" someone like me in their tracks. The whole thing is unreal! Anyway stay away from ING Direct at all cost.

Easy to use, with the great customer service!

They don't charge me for anything, which is a big up.

They offer debit cards (with the checking account), the online banking interface is easy to use and I can just log on and do what I need to and transfers are fairly quick.

I learned about ING Direct from www.iwillteachyoutoberich.com (Ramit Sethi) and it's a great tool for short term and long term savings.

They have a great customer service because I've never waited more than a few minutes on the phone.

Excellent Banking Experience, so far!

On October 23, 2009, I opened a special offer Orange CD. The online and straight forward processing was simply great. As with many online banking experiences, you are constantly affraid there will be some instruction or block you did not check and end up with a product or agreement you did not want! I believe online banking is the future and the greatest successes will go to those online Banks offering customers, not only competative rates, but uncluttered web-site designs, security confidence, and straight forward transaction processing. Although I've read some horrible reviews and did take them all serious, I still opened a CD? My initial experiences with ING were great, but I will continue to update my review!

I've had issues

I read all the comments and thought this was a bank worth looking into. However, they are just a bait and switch bank. I opened a CD with them, funded online and gave them all the information and registered my external account, etc. Yet when I actually saw the rate that they locked my CD into, it was lower than what I signed up for. This is despite the fact they had all the information on my account for over 6 days before they changed the rate. Customer service was useless as well. Once my CD matures, that is the last they will see of any of my money.

Recommended

I've had a good experience with this bank. I was using it for savings until they dropped their interest rates very low. I still have an IRA and a CD with them. The online banking is very user-friendly and you can easily transfer money to and from external accounts. I would recommend this bank for savings purposes. I have not used their 100% electronic checking account or bill payment services so I can't speak to that.

decent, but there are better ones out there.

I've used ING for a few years now. I've been happy with them for the most part. Recently though, the interest rate has dropped substantially and is now less than many of their competitors. I also haven't been able to link their site with BofA's "My Portfolio" for a long time. I've been mostly underwhelmed with ING's site since the beginning.
