Want a nervous breakdown? ... by all means choose KEY

Key Bank has the worst online banking on the planet, with some downright DIRTY and DECEPTIVE tricks to put your nerves over the edge. First off, the available balance changes from day to day depending on various factors, and regardless if an item is pending or not, KEY initially removes the funds. If they are not there, there comes an instant $39.00 overdraft fee, followed by lots more if things don't get straightened out in a hurry. If you CALL Key with concerns and you do it often, GET READY for more fees between $2 and $4 known as EXCESSIVE CALL fees. You write a check and it bounces. Most times Key will cover it, charge you $39.00, and then for every 5 days the account is overdrawn, add another $28.50. YOU must take the initiative to stop payment on the check or prepare to be RAPED by this bank.

As for CUSTOMER SERVICE, its a crap shoot. Sometimes you get really nice and helpful people and sometimes you get CRETINS who could care less about you and your situation.
Sometimes you get people who are RUDE as well. I've hung up on more than one person at KEY bank who treated me like crap.

There seems to be a new trend with many banks; TAKE ADVANTAGE of people who are no computer-savvy and have difficulty balancing check books. These banks WANT people to spend money they don't have. These banks WANT people to screw up their accounts. These banks WANT people to trust their on-line available balance.

Its not just KEY that screws people over, because there are many. The ONLY reason I stay with this putrid excuse for a bank is so when they are finally liable in a class-action lawsuit, I can be there to reap the benefits.

key bank is a nightmare

it is the worst bank ever, and has just been a head ache the last few months. between their tellers & customer service, not up to date online banking, crazy overdraft fees, posting activity from highest to lowest dollar amount instead of by order used, and my personal favorite "courtesy" list which allows you to overdraw your account and use money you do not have. Ultimately, making you pay them more than you are usally spending. I have paid so many $37 overdraft fees due to $2 to $3 purchases. Beware of this bank, it is not looking to make your banking experience easier, but rather make as much money as it can off of you.

Worst customer sevice I have ever experienced

Key bank seems to have service charges for just about everything. I made a deposit at a key bank ATM the next day I withdrew a small amount. A couple days later I noticed my account was about a hundred dollars under what I thought I had. I went to the bank they said there were overdraft fees. Turns out I made a purchase not knowing of $3 in fee's for calling to check my balance. The purchase I made caused me to go into the negative by $1.41 then they added a $38 dollar overdraft fee. Then I made the deposit they only make the first $100 available. I made two purchases of about $10 one for about 5 and withdrew $60 from the branch ATM which gave me a available balance of $74 before I withdrew. Turns out that was not the available balance and I was charged more overdraft fees. They say it is my fault I should have known the actual balance. I told them I did not know about the $3 in fees that is what started this all. they see it differently. They also say the ATM had to make the money available to me what if there was an emergency and I needed the money like my kid needed to go to the hospital they called it a courtesy to make the money available even though it was going to cause overdraft fees. I have had problems with the way they work since I switched to them I switched because I moved and they were close I should have stayed with my old bank. WORST BANK EVER in my eyes.
