“Complete lack of Honesty and Integrity”
I had inadvertently left my ATM in the machine in the bank of MacArthur in Newport Beach. A passerby took my card in the bank and when I came out of the building she told me she just dropped the card off in the bank. The elapsed time was 5 minutes.
I went in the bank and asked the female teller for my card back and the male teller told her just to check my id. However, she called over the manager. The manager came out and told me emphatically that the machine shredded it.
When I told her that the card was brought in she said it doesn't matter their policy is not to give the card back and that my card was sent to the shredder. I couldn't believe it as I knew my card was there with the teller. I asked her to get it back from the shredder and she said it was too late. I asked the manager if I could speak to someone above her and she said there wasn't anyone higher than her.
I explained that I needed my ATM card as I use it for everything and I needed to get gas on the way home. She said that was to bad as the card had gone to the shredder.
After asking again to talk to someone above her with no response from her, I just took out my ID and said that I want my card back now. Then amazingly, she asked the teller for my card, checked my ID and then said "Fine I will give it back to you this time but next time you aren't getting it back". I told her a few choice words and said there won't be a next time.
My view of this is that management is a reflection of the institution. With that in mind I would steer clear of this bank as this was the most blatant dishonest thing I have ever seen anyone do in business.
