“Huntington seems to be a good bank”
I opened my account with Huntington about 2 years ago after horrible experiences with other banks, which left me in check systems although i took care of the problem(which was not my error) i was still stuck there. They have been helpful and even helped with 1 od a mistake i made. I only hope it stays this way with the other reviews ive read.
“The Huntington National Prank”
I've done business with a couple major banks in the past 5 years, both professionally and personally, and Huntington is the WORST. I've gone through four different personal bank accounts with them because they assigned me a joint account with someone I didn't even know who could then access my money, deposited my checks into another customers' account and numerous other inconceivable blunders. In a business capacity, I've managed our checking account and loans for the past three years. Huntington has done everything imaginable to squeeze another dollar out of our business for no reason. They postpone deposits allowing for NSF fees and then neglect to alert you until days after by mail, return checks which should be covered by overdraft protection and to top it off they then refuse to refund any fees charged and dismiss my communications with them. Overdraft alerts should be immediate. If that's too difficult for them then they should put a stop on the account so additional transactions can't go through causing additional undeserved fees. Whether by phone or e-mail, I'm always passed from person to person when I contact customer service. They tell me that they cannot help me; more like won't because they don't care about the customers and their hard earned money. They transferred our account from business banking into their special assets division with no warning or permission. We now have zero customer service with none of the benefits, such as protection from returned checks, that we've earned after being a loyal checking customer who also had multiple loans and a line of credit with them for 5 years. The customers who trust banks with their money should be their first priority, not an after thought. I strongly encourage you to do business with another bank. Their accounts are a rip off, their "customer service" a crime and their loans a joke.
“Most terrible customer service ever”
Went under $15 over in one account, transferred the money in an hour after the cutoff. My mistake, so I called and they said there was nothing they could do, since it was my error. I asked to speak to a manager, and he said there wasn't one, and that he put a "note" on my account to not to refund any fees. I don't get how they can even stay in business with treating their customers this bad.
“They are THIEVES!”
This bank is infamous for their horrible online banking. I was warned before moving to Huntington that they would try to take me for all I was worth and didn't listen. Don't make the same mistake I did!
To put it as a simple explanation let me use an example to demontrate exactly what huntongton does to make sure they make money from you. If you swipe your debit card on a monday, you can go back home and see it pulled out of your account. However, on Friday you decide to pay for something else, knowing you'll have about 100 dollars left in the account after you pay for it. When you go home and look at your account, Huntington will move the transaction from monday below the one you just paid for to put you negative, and then charge you 37.50 for it. This will happen over and over again and they will not do anything to help you out. I keep great records of my purchases and balances and never had problems staying in the positive until huntington. Also, recently, they charged me from both checking and savings (double) for one purchase and wouldn't refund the money when i called customer service. I had to go to the actual branch and have them return the money to me. Avoid this place!!!!
“Its a "sin"”
My daughter just graduated from High School and got a full-time job, thus, opened her first checking acct with an associated Debit Card. After checking her acct via the telephone and thinking she had money in her acct, she made approx. 5 separate very minimal purchases with her debit card. Not knowing there were pending items still not posted to her account. When these purchases came through she was charged 37.50 for each transaction. Her second 40 hour paycheck went to Huntington Bank. She has no money. If there is "no" money a "decline" should exhibit.
How do we the consumers know if Huntington Bank is not "holding" these transactions so they can charge these outrageous fees, and "raping" hard-working people.
“PLEASE STAY AWAY THIS BANK IS MORE TROUBLE THAN WORTH!”
My First issue with this bank came when they put my deposit in someone else's account and I had to spend an hr and a half in line waiting for them to figure it out because it caused me over $600.00 in overdraft fee's. Then they cashed a check that came in way after pending transactions and munipulated the system to overdraft me on 8 transactions instead of the 1 check which cost me $300.00 in overdraft fees. The customer service is terrible. The management and employees there could care less about you or the situation they put you in. I was transfered over to this bank when Sky bank went out, I loved Sky bank but, this is the worst they could have done to their customers. The online banking is not efficient you can't see all transactions when they come in so you can prepare. Bank here at your own Risk!
“DON'T BANK HERE!!!!!!!!!!!”
Please take my advice and stear clear from banking with Huntington. They have no concept of customer service. The employees are rude and make sure that you feel bad. They do not value their customers.
“I've had issues with overdraft charges of 37.50 using my debit card-Find another bank fast!!!”
I have banked with Huntington since 1998. Over the years they have lost or failed to post deposits leaving my bank account with a balance less than I had (keep your receipts). Customer service updates are poor regarding special offers for banking with Huntington. MY BIGGEST COMPLAINT: overdraft charges for 50.00 debit purchase which they allowed leaving me with a 37.50 charge then allowing me to use my debit card 6 more times after leaving me with a total of 7 overdraft charges when they allowed the charges. I only use this account as a debit/credit that is immediately posted to the account, so they knew what was happening. In this day when you use your debit to buy a cheesburger, it is difficult to track exact balance from hour to hour. When I spoke with the customer service rep, he said sorry, but the debit doesnt stop when you have a "0" balance and would not remove the charges. Unfortunately Huntington is making huge profits off of their loyal customers who make honest mistakes. When I made a deposit to cover the charges and have a + balance, I found out later that deducted more overdraft charges since the deposit I made on Saturday morning at the bank with the teller would not post until Monday. Whose fault is that? Why should I pay. I am finding another bank and my direct deposit will go to another bank. Such a shame and such a scam !
“Run as fast as you can”
This 'Bank' after receiving millions in bail-out money has still not managed to get their internal accounting and communication straight.
This is how they work- mind you, against all accounting rules and guidelines-
#1 send a collection letter with added late fees and report a delinquent payment
#2 look at the account and notice the 'late' payment was not only posted 10 days prior, but already cleared out of the bank account of the customer- who now has the needed documentation to file a SUIT against the bank
#3 ignore the possible legal implication- after all you are the BANK with a license to steal- and had a ignorant, rude 'customer service rep' field the incoming complaint calls, naturally without any action following
#4 continue #1-3 until either the loan defaults or the customer just gives up and pays, Pays PAYS
But i have a newsflash for the BANK- I keep records, I record calls to companies that treat me wrong- i even trouble myself in writing the transcripts to present to the AG, BBB and whoever else will listen. I don't lay down, don't give up and most certainly don't quit pointing out where and how this BANK is a crook.
“Stay Clear!!!!!!!!!”
I opened up a free checking account almost a year ago with Huntington Bank. I forgot to write down a payment of $20 which put my account under $5. I had three small purchases on my debit card which amounted to less the $20 and got a $37.50 overdraft fee for each one (that's $111.50 in fees and my account was only over $5) I asked them it there was anything they could do about it and they were unhelpful and told me not to spend money I didn't have in my account. ( No kiding. Don't insult my intellagence. I don't want to pay overdraft fees) I told them it was an accident that I forgot to write down a payment. I told them that my husband started a new job and would be able to pay the fees until 2 weeks from then. Well after 5 days you get charged $35 for "overdraft extention" then $7 a day. So for going under $5 I got over $200 in fees. Outrages fees, charge $.25 everytime you use you PIN number to make a purchase, charge $2 just for checking your balance at a non-Huntington ATM, Unhelpful and rude. Definately NOT a customer service driven bank. ONLY AFTER THE ALMIGHTY DOLLAR.I am going to write to the president of the bank, BBB, and my congressman to see about setting fee limits for banks. The do for cash advance companies.
