I have had a mortgage with Wells Fargo Bank since 2005. I tried for 3.5-4 years to get a loan modification with them which was part of a settlement in a class action suit that was won in the California courts. That didn't work and I got screwed after paying a lawyer over $3000.00. I couldn't afford things like many others so I started selling anything I could to reduce my debt load etc. and ended up getting current on my mortgage which is due on the 15th. Problem is, my SS checks don't come in till the 27th and brings us close to the 30th when the grace period is over. This week Monday was the 31st and I tried to pay online on Saturday the 29th and Sunday the 30th but it wouldn't post. I paid on line on Monday night and was cautioned that it would post the next day. I noticed already that they charged me a 86.00 late fee. I sent them the attached e-mail.
"I paid my mortgage today and it is Monday night the first. I see you charged me a late fee today I could not pay you on Sunday. It is not fair to charge me that late fee. Please credit me that amount!
Dear Robert Russell:
Thank you for taking the time to contact us.
When submitting the loan payment, please keep in mind the loan payment
is due on the 15th of each month. However, a late fee will only be
assessed if the loan payment posts after the 30th of each month. Since
the 30th occurred on a weekend the late fee assessment date moves to
the following business day, Monday March 31, 2014.
On July 2, 2013, we waived the April 2013 late charge as a one time
courtesy. Wells Fargo Home Mortgage will only provide a one time
courtesy waiver every 12 months. As a result, we are not able to honor

$86.00 dollars down the drain those cold merciless pricks.
Great bank with a multiplicity of options. As a student, I appreciated the overdraft program which gives you a 'cushion' of credit for overdraft protection instead of innumerable fees.
There are definitely other reasons to use Wachovia, such as availability of ATMs, (almost) free-checking, etc. But these are the main benefits.
we have had wachovia for maybe a year and since, whenever our direct deposit is set to be deposited they find ways to charge us fees. the latest they charged us nsf fees for funds that cleared our account and they fees that caused our account to go into negative, then they charged us more fees for having a negative balance. might i add, i called and spoke to someone months earlier to take off overdraft protection so if funds were unavailable the card would be declined. i would not recommend anyone to use this rip off bank and definitely don't do direct deposit.
