Stay Away From Wells Fargo. Don't Come Close!

So i needed to withdraw money from my wf checking account and close the account. They asked for my debit card, id. They closed my debit card, i can not use it anywhere now (even on atm). But they can not give me my money from my checking account. Really? True, at this point i do not have valid id (expired on march 2013) so this female manager flag my account and made sure i wont be able to do anything with my money. Believe me or not she did not give me any explanation, but yell. Told me to go to penndot get valid id. Which penndot wont give me one, because i'm going through immigration process at this point. I tried to explain, but she did not want to hear anything! She said she has never seen me before at this bank, which doesn't make any sense (bank is bank,same wells fargo, just different store) and i can only get $500 without id. I showed her all immigration documents, even fingerprints which i got done at immigration office on September 2013. I showed her valid travel document with my picture on it and she said its not id. She was so rude, no respect to customer, did not do anything to help out. So i really don't know what i'm suppose to do now? I will start traveling on Monday September 16. My plane is in few days. I wrote a check on my friend's name. Bank took the money out of my account, did not post on his account(metro bank), and i don't know where is my money now? This is nothing but theft! I want my money, i worked hard since July 2009 to have $6400 in my account in September 2013. Really have no idea who should i talk to to solve this problem. They need valid id to give me my money, they never asked me for id when i deposit money. Can anyone please tell me how can i get my money back from this bank? Never deal with it again!

Wachovia

Great bank with a multiplicity of options. As a student, I appreciated the overdraft program which gives you a 'cushion' of credit for overdraft protection instead of innumerable fees.

There are definitely other reasons to use Wachovia, such as availability of ATMs, (almost) free-checking, etc. But these are the main benefits.

keep ur money, don't be ripped off

we have had wachovia for maybe a year and since, whenever our direct deposit is set to be deposited they find ways to charge us fees. the latest they charged us nsf fees for funds that cleared our account and they fees that caused our account to go into negative, then they charged us more fees for having a negative balance. might i add, i called and spoke to someone months earlier to take off overdraft protection so if funds were unavailable the card would be declined. i would not recommend anyone to use this rip off bank and definitely don't do direct deposit.
