Wouldn’t it be nice to fly as often as you want, and for free? Sound too good to be true? It’s not!
The JetBlue Card from American Express allows you to do just that. There are no blackout dates and endless opportunities to earn points so you can rack up enough to fly for free.
I’ve personally used this card for the past year on various expenses such as dining out, gas, utilities for my apartment -- I've already managed to fly free on three flights, all of which were cross country from New York to Los Angeles! Not bad when you’re on a budget.
At one point, the card was having a promotion where I received double points when using it on entertainment (such as movies), which helped boost my points even higher.
While the APR is 15.24 percent, I've always paid my statement in full and have never had to pay interest.
Here is the breakdown of costs, perks and other details for this card.
Pros Cons Receive 200 extra bonus points when purchasing Even More Space $40 annual fee Receive 300 extra points if purchasing a ticket for your pet Some retailers don't accept Amex
The fee is waived for the first year of cardmembership. After that, the annual fee is $40. While some people prefer cards with no annual fee, this card has paid for itself many times over, considering the free flights I was able to take advantage of.
There are no other fees or charges.
The APR on purchases is a variable rate but currently is at 15.24 percent.
As I mentioned earlier, the rewards and perks for this card are endless.
Currently, the JetBlue Card for American Express is having a welcome offer in which you can earn 20,000 TrueBlue points when you spend $1,000 on your card in the first three months of card membership.
You also earn one TrueBlue point for every dollar you spend. In addition to that, if you purchase a JetBlue flight with this card, you'll earn three TrueBlue points for every dollar spent, plus an additional three bonus points per dollar spent if you book it through JetBlue.com. That's 6 points per dollar!
Once you’re actually on the flight, you can still continue to earn points. You will receive a 50% refund (in the form of a statement credit) for inflight purchases made with your card for things like food, alcohol, movies, pillows and blankets.
JetBlue Getaways vacation packages are also offered -- you can receive a $50 statement credit each calendar year that you purchase a vacation package on your card.
Here’s a helpful tip that I’ve learned along the way.
If you have points that you’ve already earned and are waiting for them to be added to your account and need to book a flight with them in the meantime, just call up American Express and they will lay out the points for you so you can book your flight without waiting.
