The Best Credit Card Deals for Mother’s Day

If you’re not sure what to get Mom for Mother’s Day this year or you’re a little low on cash as May 13 approaches, check in with your credit card company.

Issuers are known to offer timely deals in the form of extra cash back, merchant-based discounts and other promotions around holidays as retailers compete for your business. (This is why it’s pretty common for revolving category cards to offers 5% back on department stores around Christmas.)

You can usually find savings by browsing through your credit card’s bonus mall or by following your issuer on Twitter. To help save you some time, here are some of the better Mom-centric deals credit card companies are currently offering.

Flowers and Gift Baskets

Flower companies are notorious for offering extra rewards points or cash back this time of year, so pay yours a visit the next time you need to send a bouquet. Right now, ShopDiscover is featuring 20% Cash back Bonus on purchases made at FTD.com, Teleflora and ProFlowers. The issuer is also offering free shipping on Godiva orders of $65 or more through May 8. Meanwhile, Bank of America is giving WorldPoints mall shoppers 11 bonus points per dollar spent at 1-800-BASKETS.COM. Cardholders are also eligible for a 15% discount if they use the code MOMDAYBSKTS15.

Spa and Beauty

As reported, Discover partners with merchants to allow cardholders to redeem their cash back bonus for gift cards containing more than the amount they are being asked to redeem.  A few of these gift cards may make the perfect present for Mom. Cardholders can currently score a $50 gift card to SpaFinder in exchange for $40 cash back bonus or a $100 gift card for $80 cash back bonus. There are also some nice exchange rates on gift cards from Sephora, Crabtree and Evelyn and Bath and Body Works.

Chase Freedom cardholders, meanwhile, can get 20% off when they shop at Sephora through the Chase Ultimate Rewards mall through May 8. There’s no minimum purchase required to receive the discount, but cardholders who spend $25 or more will also receive a free deluxe-sized sample of Moisture Surge Intense skin fortifying hydrator when they use the code CHASEMOM.

Jewelry, Apparel and Décor

Amex is featuring some decent discounts on apparel over in its Deal Center. Cardholders are currently eligible to receive 20% off on select Macy.com purchases. They can also get 15% off on card purchases of $100 or more at Kohls.com by using the code MOM15OFF. Citi cash back cardholders are in luck if they’re looking to get Mom some jewelry.
