Banking with Citi and looking for a home? Citibank would love for you to consider a Citi mortgage. They’re offering up to $2,500 in cash back. Details follow.

The deal

Citi checking customers who get a mortgage with the bank must link their Citibank checking account to their mortgage account with automatic debit payment. Once they’ve made their first mortgage payment this way, Citi will drop “the equivalent of the principal and the interest portion, up to $2,500,” according to a press release.

Payments must be made on time and the accounts must be kept in good standing in order to qualify for the deal. The deal is available from September 4th, 2012 until November 30th, 2012. Go to your local Citibank branch or call 888-CITIMTG to apply.

The account

Currently, Citi 30 year fixed rate mortgages start with APRs around 3.8%.
