The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is reminding consumers that they are legally entitled to receive a free copy of their specialty consumer reports every year, just like with the three major credit bureaus Experian, Equifax and TransUnion.
The consumer agency has sent out a bulletin to specialty consumer reporting companies with a reminder of this rule.
Specialty consumer reporting companies include those that collect medical record or payments, residential or tenant history, check-writing history, employment history and insurance claims.
The CFPB encourage consumers to check these specialty consumer reports for any errors.
