CheckSpring Bank Opens Second Branch in West Harlem

Updated on Mon Dec 10, 2012

CheckSpring Bank, which first launched five years ago in the South Bronx, will be opening a second branch on 111th St. and Frederick Douglass Blvd in Manhattan’s West Harlem.

The newly renamed Spring Bank aims to serve low-income New Yorkers by helping them transition into mainstream banking, through services such as low fees for cashing checks and no minimum balance requirements on certain savings accounts.

“We are able to make money and serve the underbanked customers and small businesses that nobody wants,” interim president Eric Pallas told the New York Daily News.
