Citibank to Shut Down Branches in Suburban Philly

Citibank plans to shut down suburban branches in Philadelphia, closing 13 branches altogether on the Main Line, leaving all five Center City branches intact, according to Philly.com.

In addition to branches in Philadelphia, it also plans to axe branches in Boston and North Jersey, on top of laying off approximately 11,000 people (5,000 in IT alone). Citi cites the rapidly growing use of mobile banking as a reason for cutting costs.

Branches in Philadelphia will shut down in March.
