Consumer Watchdog Takes a Look at Financial Products on College Campuses

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau said it will start to gather information on how financial products are marketed to students on college campuses, and see if any marketing practices prove harmful to students.

“We have seen many colleges establish relationships with financial institutions to offer banking services to their students,” said CFPB director Richard Cordray in prepared remarks. “The Bureau wants to find out whether students using college-endorsed banking products are getting a good deal.”
