Credit Limits for New Credit Cards Highest Since 2009

Equifax, one of the three biggest U.S. credit bureaus, said that the credit lines for new credit cards opened in the first three quarters of 2012 totaled $675 billion, up from $523 billion during the same period in 2010.

Equifax Chief Economist Amy Crews Cutts said the data was a sign of responsible credit card usage while banks became more open to lending.

If that’s the case, consumers who already have credit cards may consider requesting increases on their credit limits.
