Central State Bank of Elkader is in the process of acquiring Farmers Savings Bank of Walford; the merger is expected to complete by Dec. 31.
The Coralville and Iowa City offices, which now operate as Corridor State Bank, will be renamed Central State Bank by Jan. 1, 2013, reported The Gazette.
“Farmers Savings Bank has operated in a similar manner, which will allow this transaction to be seamless for the communities and customers served,” Johnson said in a statement issued by Central State Bank. “The strong employee base in Walford will provide us with a great foundation to build on.”
