Every year, PNC Bank updates a Christmas price index, which tracks the cost of purchasing the items mentions in the classic song “The Twelve Days of Christmas.”
The price tag of the PNC Christmas price index in 2012 is $25,431.18, up $1,168 from last year.
The true cost of the items gifted by the True Love in 2012 is $107,300.24, up $6,180 from last year (a 6.1 percent increase).
“The rise in the PNC CPI index is larger than expected considering the modest economic growth we’ve had over the past 12 months,” said Jim Dunigan, managing executive of investments for PNC Wealth Management, in a prepared statement.
Also, a severe drought caused the increased cost to feed large birds, which contributed to the surge in this year’s CPI index, the bank said.
