U.S. Bank to Change Fees on Overdraft Protection Transfers, Stop Payments

U.S. Bank, the fifth-largest bank in country, is making a few changes to its fee policy regarding overdraft-protection transfers and stop payments, according to an updated fee schedule.

Effective Feb. 11, 2013, the overdraft-protection transfer will increase from $10 to $12.50. For customers with Gold Package Checking, the fee will rise from $5 to $7.50. The fee is unchanged for Platinum Package Checking, customers of which will continue to receive free overdraft-protection transfers.

Additionally, U.S. Bank will discontinue six-month and 12-month stop payments, which currently costs $30 and $40 each, respectively. The bank will only offer 24-month stop payments, which will come with a $35 fee, down from the current $50 fee.
