Using the Midas touch on a credit card, Visa is able to roll out a credit card that is made with actual gold and it’s embedded with diamonds.
Through a partnership with Russia-based Sberbank, Visa is offering this card to the top 100 customers in Kazakhstan. It costs $100,000 in the first year — $65,000 for the card and $35,000 for deposit with the bank. The annual fee is $2,000.
The card doesn’t have a magnetic strip, but does include an EMV chip.
If anyone in the U.S. wants one, don’t hold your breath. There are no plans to offer such a card here.
